Susan
I’m having trouble searching within lexicon entries. I’m working in Dictionary of Classical Hebrew. I was attempting to find the phrase עַד־עֶצֶם הַיּוֹם הַזֶּֽה which appears in Ezk 2:3 and is apparently idiomatic. I went to the entry for עצם and tried searching there for יום, היום, and עד none of which found the relevant part. I then found it myself. Here is a screenshot of the search how I have it set up. That particular search (היום) returned no hits even though that’s the form in the entry (minus vowels - surely I don’t need to type it with pointing?). I scrolled down myself to the place on the entry where I think it should have found something, so you can see that in the screenshot. Does anybody know what I’m doing wrong? Thanks! Λύχνις Δαν
Not sure. I tried this out and the word order is different in Ezk and in CDCH (I don't have CDH but the entry is present in the concise). Reversing the order found the Hebrew Content correctly without any other adjustments searching for : הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה עֶ֖צֶם You do have to drop the leading particle though עַד־ . Doing a search like yours worked using הַזֶּֽה for the Content search. Using הַיּ֥וֹם also worked but my search had "s around it. I didn't do it by Acc did when I cut and paste the word. Susan
Thanks, Daniel. I’m getting no results for (I think) exactly the same search (content: “הַיּוֹם" , entry: עֶצֶם). Arg.
Λύχνις Δαν
Really off the wall thought - though I have seen it before. In your Tool Preferences what is your search highlight colour ? Assuming that is different from the text (Content) colour, check the Set Tool Display setup for this particular tool ? This is all assuming no searches highlight properly in this tool. If any are then this is not the issue. OK I tried this again by typing the words in and it worked again. Do you have the concise version ? Perhaps it's an issue with the full version. Gedalya
Doing a simple literal search in Accordance brought up 3 hits. Lev 23:14; Josh 10:27; Ezek 2:
Helen Brown
Susan: When you search for an entry, you find the articles that follow those entries. However, in a massive tool like DCH, the articles are often divided into subarticles, so that even though you search the content of your hits, it isn't searching the subarticles. (This also affects the ability to highlight the reference when amplifying from a word in a verse.) I think there's a slight error in our formatting of DCH in that each paragraph seems to be a new article (paging between articles goes to the next para.) However, you can overcome this by using the Table of Contents Range search (a little known feature). Once you get to the articles, open the TOC with an option-click to drill down to the entries. Sift-option-click on each relevant entry to confine future searches to the entry. Now search Hebrew Contents for the secondary word (or Scripture for the reference). To remove the range, option click over the red line that marks it.
Fabian
As Helen said, use at the moment the shortcut keys, because the right click function is broken in 11.0.7 see here Greetings Fabian

(It also probably explains why it was working for Daniel in the concise version that’s presumably not divided up into so many sub-articles.) Thanks to the rest of you as well. Fabian, my right click seems to be pulling up that menu appropriately, although I’m not familiar with what it did in the past. Fabian
Hello Susan, yes by me too. I can also click on "set range" or "add range" but it doesn't work. The red stripe comes not. Does it by you? Greetings Fabian
Mark Allison
Fabian, the "red stripe" should appear when you hold down the "option" key and click on an entry in the Table of Contents.
Fabian
Hello Mark Yes that works, but I mean/think not that. Till 11.0.6 it was able to click in the TOC and when it was blue we were able to do a right click and then select it (like the pic in my other post). That isn't able anymore since 11.0.7. One is better since 11.0.7 one is worst since 11.0.7. Since 11.0.7 I'm able to select with the "Tip", before it needed a "Click" but now the "right click" is away. We can talk later in the Webinar Greetings Fabian Edited August 25, 2015 by Fabian
Mark Allison
I see what you're saying. Yes, that's a bug. I'll report it to the developers.

Can this be remedied in some way ? Or is that very difficult ? Tx D
Helen Brown
We are looking into it, but there was a reason that it was set up in this way, and it may be hard to find a workaround.

Helen Brown
Apparently there is a fix in sight, but it may take some time to implement it.
