Hebrew construct search

Hi,

is it possible to make a hebrew construct search, that finds all the cases of adjacent words, where the preceding word ends to mater (he, alef, waw or yod) or to a mater-less qamets and the following word begins with a begadkephat-consonant?

And can it be modified so that it finds only a begadkephat-consonant with or without dagesh?

Thanks!

Niko

Yes, it's possible, and if I understood your request correctly, here it is:

Heb-Construct.png

We need two columns, and in each one I eliminated particles as I assumed you would want, I dragged an inflected form, and I added a Within 1 to ensure that they are adjacent.

In the first column we have parentheses to enclose alternate forms which are separated by a comma

The first term is

  • * for any number of letters
  • ? for a single letter with parentheses enclosing the allowed characters

The second term is

  • = specifying the vowel pointing
  • ? for a single letter with parentheses enclosing the allowed characters

In the second column we have

One term with

  • = specifying the vowel pointing
  • ? for a single letter with parentheses enclosing the allowed characters
  • a dagesh which appears inside the parentheses but was entered outside it
  • * for any number of letters

In the second column, if you remove the = it will ignore the dagesh, if you remove the dagesh it will find the unpointed characters, so you can run the search three ways.

Enjoy!

Thank you Helen! That's very cool and amazing!

I'm in a hurry at the moment, so I will test it tomorrow or so

I have to ask about the correct order of the search, because I'm not very good at this yet.

First term of the first inflect box:

bracket, star, question mark, bracket, hebrew, bracket, comma, equal sign, star, qamets. Is that what I typed in correct order? Also in the first column you mention two question marks, but in the picture I see only one.

You read the image correctly, and yes, I failed to edit my description properly, sorry! It should read:

In the first column we have parentheses to enclose alternate forms which are separated by a comma

The first term is

  • * for any number of letters
  • ? for a single letter with parentheses enclosing the allowed characters

The second term is

  • = specifying the vowel pointing
  • * for any number of letters or vowels
  • gametz

In the second column we have

One term with

  • = specifying the vowel pointing
  • ? for a single letter with parentheses enclosing the allowed characters
  • a dagesh which appears inside the parentheses but was entered outside it
  • * for any number of letters
