Michel Gilbert
Hi, I read the complete list of what's new at http://www.accordancebible.com/New-Since-11/ and discovered some hidden gems. Thanks for the Qatal/Yiqtol terms that can be set at Preferences > Greek & Hebrew. And, thanks for the "support for tagged transliteration texts, such as upcoming tagged Ugaritic." Did I miss something, or is this the first official announcement? Regards, Michel
R. Mansfield
And, thanks for the "support for tagged transliteration texts, such as upcoming tagged Ugaritic." Did I miss something, or is this the first official announcement? Surprise! Actually, I don't know if it had been mentioned before this or not. Nevertheless, it will be available very soon.
Helen Brown
The announcement will be soon, the complete text, not so much.
Michel Gilbert
Hi Helen, I think I can guess who's doing the tagging. Assuming he started in the spring at the earliest, it would be quite an accomplishment to have tagged most of the texts already. So, I understand "the complete text, not so much." But I'm glad there will be an announcement soon, and that it is happening. Regards, Michel
theblackbluejay
Just out of curiosity, are there any plans to do a training or a podcast on the Ugaritic materials? I'm assuming that the new tagged texts module will be self-explanatory, but I would benefit from a brief tutorial on the Ugaritic database module. For whatever reason, this is the only module in my library that is not making sense to me, in terms of how it might be utilized. I have used KTU2, CTA, CAT, and read through many of the texts in Pardee's grammar (which uses RS reference numbers), but this module is not making sense to me. I get the feeling that I am missing something very simple . . . Thanks, David
Peter Brylov Christensen
I'll admit that I was confused by it at first, too, David. The 00-recension is always the "main" recension. All the recensions such as R1 and 10 are case sensitive, meaning that they differ on the text in question. For instance, in UDB 1.1, the different recensions are based on the following:00-1. 1 KTU, M. Dietrich – O. Loretz – J. Sanmartín, Die Keilalphabetischen Texte aus Ugarit (Neukirchen-Vluyn, 1976). 10-1. 1 Smith, Mark S., The Ugaritic Baal Cycle. Volume 1. Introduction with Text, Translation and Commentary of KTU 1.1–1.2. Leiden- New York – Köln 1994, pp. 117–209. R1-1. 1 Lab. de Hermeneumática, Ugaritic Data Bank. Modules I and II. Madrid 1999. (These data are found just below the Bibliographical data for each tablet) Edited November 18, 2015 by Peter Brylov Christensen
theblackbluejay
Thanks, Peter! I appreciate it. I will be doing some work with Ugaritic this weekend, and will use this note as reference. I'll message you if I have any other questions.
