I'd like to be able to color code morphology in Accordance by having a view right within the application where I could press a button and have all of my original language texts displayed in user selectable colors, with the ability to display just a single type of tag or any multiple combination of tags as colored text.

I like fuchsia...

We can make Hebrew vowel points and accents phase two, just to simplify the initial roll out.  K?

Hi, Michael!

We currently do not have a feature that permits that view. However, you can search for and highlight morphological forms yourself. These highlights can be hidden or displayed by changing the settings for a text at Set Text Display>Advanced>Display Word highlighting.

Dr. J is right on. The highlighting features (besides a few errors) does wonders with marking HITS.

What would be nice is:

1- adding additional annotations (e.g. Text font color)
This would allow in an instant all the pointing to disappear if a clear color was offered which solves another request: unpainted Hebrew text!

2- adding an annotation for layout change (e.g. Put text on separate line)

3- adding options to have multiple annotations visible at once (currently you can only display one at a time)

4- adding the option to copy and paste that includes the annotations

Improving the versitility of user notations on texts would be life changing. Right now I have to go outside of accordance to a word processor to do most of this.

I managed to follow the above instructions, it was a bit fiddly and took a few attempts to get right but it works. Being quite pleased with myself I showed off my new morphological colour coded Greek and Hebrew text to my friend who has Logos, to which he showed how easy it is for him to do this by turning on and off colour coding for the different verbs/nouns, etc.. and he can have multiple schemes running at the same time against my one. (I have to keep switching between Greek and Hebrew highlighting when moving between Old and New Testaments.

I have BibleWorks and this function is available for multiple texts, and while not as easy to set up as Logos is more functional than Accordance. Is it possible that this could be made better  and given more prominence in Accordance? Since this is an original language function I expected BibleWorks to have a good way of doing this but was surprised that Logos was even better! This function is so useful when doing exegesis in the original languages, I'm surprised it's not a main feature, rather than hidden away in highlighting for those who know. Maybe for Accordance 13 or the next major release?

Hope this suggestion is helpful.

Thanks Paul

While our programmers are considering your request, I want to point out that the Greek words in the Diagram of the Greek New Testament are color coded by parts of speech.

Thanks Dr. J,

Appreciate that this is being considered, I hope it is possible but understand that it may take a little time.

Morphological colour coding is an excellent feature which can be enhanced and utilised much better, being made more prominent and easier to access and use in Accordance can only be a good thing.

Here is a screen shot of my humble effort to show the usefulness and scope of use.

Thanks Paul

I've never needed this so far but I can see how useful it would be, as long as the user doesn't have to do the highlighting etc manually

This is the issue, in BW and Logos you can switch on and off different morphological colour options through a designated interface, currently in Accordance you have to manually find the forms and highlight by selecting all and saving them together. It could be so much better and more functional, I find it so helpful when looking at a passage to quickly identify certain key verbs. Really hope this becomes a feature in a future release.

Here's the morphological coding system for Greek I share w/ my students. (It will need to be unzipped.) I've also a PDF that explains the rationale behind my coding system.

I simply use the highlighter icon and toggle off highlights when I want them to disappear.

In BibleWorks, I was able to define morphological aspects and apply highlighting. In Accordance, you have to run searches for specific morph features and apply highlights. BW is easier, but both get the same result.

Since it is brought up, I'm wondering if it is possible to add another feature. Another Bible software has the function: search for style.

After highlighting certain words/texts, then we would like to search all highlighted texts. For instance, we highlighted certain words with yellow, green, red colors, then we would like to search all words that are highlighted with yellow color. Is it possible to add this feature?

Blessings,
Martin

Search for Style is supported on Mac, PC and iOS. On Android the Highlights are not implemented yet. Maybe I’m wrong. And it can be it isn’t working on Accordance Lite. I don’t have looked on the feature page.

Thanks, yes that works. But it is an unexpected procedure. I would prefer if a double click would install it on the right place like User Tools, Imported Bibles etc.
