Mairead Sine
Hello All, I am sorry to bother you but I've checked most of the topics in the Original Languages area and cant find anything that's as basic as my request. I have recently returned to school to do a Ph.D. I am not a Biblical student but a crossover between theology and history. However, there is an Amos and Social Justice course that in the Biblical stream that I received permission to take. My classmates and my professor have been wonderful to me, but I have suddenly realized what one of my problems is. I am surprised at what I do remember. However, I have forgotten everything there is to know about accents. I remember the pointing and the verb forms, but those tricky little accents that tell you direction, etc. have totally leaked from my brain. I remember when I took Introduction to Biblical Hebrew (I was less than half my current age) there was a little cardboard piece that explained accents in my Hebrew Bible. I cannot find it anywhere. I also cannot find it anywhere on the Accordance webpage. Can anyone help me please? Thank you. Mairead..
Michel Gilbert
Hi Mairead, I can't find my old bookmark to scan and send a copy. In case no one else can find one, the accents are conveniently listed in Gesenius' Hebrew Grammar, 2nd English Edition, §15 e-i, pp. 59-62. It is available in Acc at http://www.accordancebible.com/store/details/?pid=GKC%20Hebrew , or, in your library. Regards, Michel
Anthony Sepulveda
Or maybe you can check out the Wiki page on cantillation, in the meantime: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cantillation

Ken Simpson
I find the BHS Guide by Scott to be excellent for this, including the other marks, the Masorah and the BHS apparatus. http://www.accordancebible.com/store/details/?pid=BHS%20Guide Edited February 22, 2016 by Ken Simpson
