iPhone 5S (64GB) vs. iPhone 6 (16GB)

Helen and admins--I hope this post is okay here, as this is more Apple than Macintosh, although this forum was created before iOS, I think. Please let me know if not. I vaguely recall seeing iPhone and iPad posts somewhere on the forums before.

I'm due a phone upgrade and for the same price can get a 5S with 64GB or a 6 with 16GB. I have a 32GB 5C right now, and use almost all of those 32GB.

I probably need about 2GB for Accordance, some space for music, photos, and way too many task management apps. However, I'm interested in culling some of what I have, which is why I'm not ruling out going down to 16GB so I can get the 6.

Those of you who know about these things, choosing between an older model with more GB or a newer model with fewer GB, how would you lean?

My gut says 64GB is better, but I'm also concerned that the 5S won't be supported as long as the 6 will. Case in point: my 5C already can't run 64-bit apps, and will probably get skipped for iOS 10....

I personally like my 6, but then I got a 128gb to replace my 5 64gb the screen size is very nice on the 6 and like it a lot... if you truly this you can get by with 16 I would go with the 6 but i personally know I couldn;t go that low... but that is just me...

I agree with Dan, I love the larger screen, fingerprint recognition and thinner feel of the 6.  When I pick up my wife's 5 it just seems so much more clunky. 16GB would be too small for me, but I would live with it over an iPhone 5.  Keeping the topic on Accordance, I think that it just runs smoother on the 6, but that might just be psychological because of the larger screen.  Abram, I  would go for the 6, but if you could stretch to 32gb, all the better.

You will be miserable with 16 GB. It's not enough space, and honestly, Apple shouldn't even offer it. I would recommend getting the 64 GB version of the 6 or 6s. Wait and save up the difference in cost if necessary.

That's a good idea, Rick, and thanks for the thoughts, Dan and Paul.

I am the kind of Apple customer for whom 32GB would be perfect, and in my opinion they purposely eliminated that size in newer models to drive folks like me up to the higher price point of the 64GB... so part of me just wants to spite Apple and get a Droid or something... but then I'd have to live with the consequences.

Honestly, I would just save up and get a 6s or 6. Accordance probably does run faster as the phones themselves are a lot faster over the 5s. Also, the 6s has 2gigs of ram vs the 6 which only has 1. This is going to help programs run smoother.

I've had the 6 with 16gb since it came out and I've never had a problem at all. All pictures are backed up to a cloud service. I delete them every couple weeks from the phone. I would have liked 64gb but it wasn't worth the extra 100 at the time. 16 is totally doable, even if not ideal, and it's a way better option than a 5-anything.

I'd go with the 6 as well, although I might hold out a little while and get at least a 32Gb. I think you'll probably be frustrated with the smaller available storage space.

I've had the 5s with 32Gb and now have a 6+ with 64Gb.

I like the larger screen on the 6+ until I use it as a phone, then I feel its too large.  But as a text reading device I love using it for Accordance, Kindle and e-Mail.

The biggest consequence for me would be the lack of Accordance on my droid...  +1 for hurrying Droid development for Accordance!

I would recommend the 6 for the speed (iOS 10 is incoming and the 5S will be getting slower when you're going to upgrade), the bigger display etc. But you shouldn't go with 16GB. The system itself uses a lot of that space.. so there isn't a lot left for your apps and accordance. On my 6S (amazingly fast with second version of TouchID) its about 7GB for iOS. So you will have around 8-10GB for all your content and apps..

If you can I would recommend at least a 32 or 64GB phone. And think about the extra display space of the 6 - its a big plus for my Accordance use.

I had the 6 Plus, and then upgraded (downsized) to the 6S and love the size. It is way better than the size of the 5.

I frankly couldn't recommend anything older than the 6, but the entry memory size is probably too small for you, so I'd join the others suggesting you wait till you can get the 6 with more memory.
