Incomplete Install of Apologists

Recommended Posts

In Trypho, I've got the Greek but no English.  I've got both on the Mac.

Both Mac and iPad were been rebooted.  In Settings on the iPad, I Removed Saved Session and Cleared Download Cache.

I erased and reinstalled by syncing with the Mac.  Still didn't get the English.

I erased again and reinstalled using Easy Install on the iPad.

No go.

Justin and Athenagoras seem to be all there, at least with 'spot checks.'

Ideas?

I've updated to the latest version of iAccord; I had been running the beta.

The Apologists were again deleted and resintalled via Easy Install on the iPad.

I am still missing the English for Trypho.

Ideas?  Help?

Hey Julie,

I'm looking into this issue now. Looks like something we'll have to correct for the next release. We decided to do a 2.3.3 release, so it shouldn't be too far away.

Thank you, Chris.  I really appreciate and reply and the quick response to the problem.

You Accordance folks are the best!

Hey Julie,

We were able to track down this issue an we'll have a fix in our next release. Turns out, APO-E has very large verses iOS can't handle displaying them, so your install is fine. A workaround you can do until the release is go to your Text Display settings and change your "Show" setting to "Separate Verses". Feel free to switch it back to Paragraphs when you're reading other Texts, and once 2.3.3 is released, you can switch is back to Paragraphs for good and we'll properly handle cases like this. Hope this helps for the time being.

Thanks, Chris.  Have you looked at those modules on a computer?  While the Greek has paragraphs, the English is continuous, with divisions that look more like verses.  Very, very difficult to use.  A lot of punctuation is missing in the English as well.

Print copies often have line numbers.  Anything that could be done to make it easier to navigate would be much appreciated.

You're an iAccord guy, right?  Would you mind passing this along to whomever might be able to take a look at it?  And, I hope, improve the modules?

Thanks!

Julie can you give an example of missing punctuation?

Here are a couple from Trypho:

Some say so I do not, however, agree with them.”

Trypho 1:5, APOL-E v1.2

“myself It is good, moreover”

Trypho 1:1, APOL-E v1.2

I've run across quite a few and have sent correction reports for some of them, but there was a spell there when the 'Report a Correction' didn't seem to be working.

The Apostolic Fathers are great to work with.

The Apologists are difficult because of the very long text unbroken by verses or even line numbers.  I realize that Accordance cannot take on versification when the printed texts don't have any, but some system of line numbers would be very, very helpful.  The text copied for us by the prof did have line numbers.  I don't know what the options are for an e-text.

Thanks, Chris, for passing this along.

And thank you, Rick, for taking a look at this.
