romans6
I was wondering if Accordance abides by any form of Statement of Faith, or if in particular their staff is required to adhere to a Statement of Faith? I have noticed that the commentaries within my package are more conservative in nature (which I prefer) and did not know if that was due to particular denominational affiliations. I'm not insinuating that they should have one by posting this thread. I am just curious and would love to know more about the background of the company. Helen Brown
As a company we do not have a "Statement of Faith" nor do we require any particular faith affirmation from our staff. The people who work with Accordance come from many faith traditions, but certainly most are interested in and committed to Biblical studies. The selection of materials that we offer depends on what is available to us for licensing, and as etexts, as well as what we believe will most benefit our users. We are constantly trying to broaden the range. Our goal has always been simply to produce the best software for Biblical studies, for any and all who are interested.
R. Mansfield
Also, some more background of the company can be found on the Accordance history webpage.

EricC
Also, some more background of the company can be found on the Accordance history webpage. That history page stops with v. 10. Maybe someone at Accordance could update it to include version 11.
Alistair
I always imagined that the Accordance HQ has a massive underground secret complex full of minions tagging texts all through the night (and fighting over bananas).
Graham Buck
We might not be secretly underground (dispersed to unnamed locations is safer anyway… ) but that 'all through the night' part isn't far off.

And I am sure I remember fighting with you over bananas.

Julie Palmer
Good thing this group is not easily distracted when asked serious questions. Otherwise, I might worry about us.

Timothy Jenney
I'd like to echo Helen's position. Our team is committed to supporting the study of the Bible and its related resources. We exist to serve everyone who wants to study the Bible, irrespective of their faith, doctrine, or scholarly expertise.
Joe Weaks
… I have noticed that the commentaries within my package are more conservative in nature… and did not know if that was due to particular denominational affiliations.I've been using Accordance for over 20 years, and my experience with what they offer has always seemed right in line with how Helen responded. When I have perceived there to be a larger proportion of conservative materials offered, it has always seemed to be a result of the strategic parameters Helen described. Often, conservative and/or older materials are cheaper to obtain rights and etexts to, and hence easier to do profitably. (Do I need to duck after that statement?) It also seems to me, however, that they produce some modules of high scholarly value, not because they were projected as cash cows, but rather simply beef up their offerings in general, without regard to profit margin.
