James Taylor
Hello, I'm running Accordance 10 from the apple store. Wondering about my upgrade options. 1 - If I upgrade to version 11 from the apple store, will it just install and leave all my purchased modules intact? Is there still a 10.00 credit upgrading this way? 2 - If I want to upgrade to essential collection, will I need to reinstall everything? Is there a way to transfer the modules from apple store 10 to essential 11 without needing to download everything? Thanks for any help with this, James
Daniel Francis
I believe you have to contact customer service... You should not need to redownload everything because all modules should be in your users library/application support/Accordance/ So any App, be it apple version or non should be able to use it. This is MY UNDERSTANDING.... You will need confirmation from Accordance. -Dan
Helen Brown
It is a little complicated as the AppStore version is "sandboxed" at Apple's insistence, so all its files, modules, preferences, etc. are in a "container." Only your user files are in the normal Documents location. If you buy and download the update from Apple it will use all the current modules, and yes, we'll give you the $10 credit so you don't lose out. Of course, after Apple's cut we do lose on that deal! If you then purchase the Essential, the modules will download into the same copy of Accordance so you should have no problems. If you buy and download our webstore version, we'll give you the upgrade price for the Starter. However, it will start over and redownload everything into the usual Application Support of your user/Library. You can work with our tech support to move your modules and preferences there first, but usually we recommend and help you remove the old containers and do a clean install. In summary, it's possible but not so easy to switch the program version between the AppStore and our website versions, but anything you purchase will be available to you in either version since you are logging into the same Accordance account.
James Taylor
Thanks Helen, Will I have problems with my copies of TNIV & NIV84 if I purchase from the Accordance site? JT
Daniel Francis
Thanks for the better understanding Helen. I am sad to learn it is so convoluted but now I know for sure. -Dan
Helen Brown
James: As long as the modules were purchased from or registered with Accordance, we can sync them to your account and you can access them either way.
Helen Brown
BTW, there are other disadvantages to the AppStore version: it's harder to support since the files are buried in the "sandbox," and the review process by Apple means that we don't post updates as often. That can be good as we tend to wait until a version is reasonably stable before we post it in the AppStore, but if there is a bug you may have to live with it for a while. James Taylor
Thank you, I didn't realize we could still access the TNIV & NIV84. For some reason I thought they had been removed from the Accordance site. JT
JohnABarnett
James, I won't be that annoying, cornball ball guy that says I have loved your music since "Sweet Baby James." I won't. I just won't.

JohnABarnett
Ha Ha! That song was playing on the radio the year I was born :-) JT Thanks for your gracious response, and indulging this annoying cornball. I was a junior in high school when the song came out, and as a guitar player I played and sang his music for many years.
Ken Simpson
Thank you, I didn't realize we could still access the TNIV & NIV84. For some reason I thought they had been removed from the Accordance site. JT James, my understanding is that both have been removed from sale, so you won’t find them on the WebStore, and replaced by the NIV11 at Zondervan’s requirement. If you already had purchased NIV84 and/or TNIV from us, and it is recorded against your account, then you can redownload them if they are required. Helen will tidy that up if I have details incorrect.
