NIV 1984?

Hello,

I'm a little confused as to the whole situation with the availability of NIV revisions. I know the default NIV now is the 2011 revision, but is there a way for me to get the 1984 version for Accordance? I do not currently have either.

Thanks!
Todd

Some user have purchased old CDs with the NIV Basic Library or the NIV Complete Library. If the CD is unused then it is legitimate and we can register it to you. If it is used, though, we need to confirm with the original user that he is not using any of those products or their upgrades, nor has he sold them or given them to anyone, a tough call after more than 15 years.

If you legally own an etext of the NIV84 in another software you can import it into Accordance, or ask us about other options.

The publishers have made it clear that we may not sell the NIV84 any more. They would like everyone to upgrade to NIV11.

I came to accordance via the zondervan cd route as i wanted the niv study bible so started with niv84. Two other things to be aware of

1) With NIV11 you can get tagging on steroids

http://www.accordancebible.com/store/details/?pid=NIV11-GKE

Which was never available on NIV84,

2) links tend to point to 2011 version so for example, NIV didnt work when i only had the NIV84 version installed but now links to the NIV11 (as well as the nrsv and jps)

Thanks for the clarification. What sort of "other options" are there if someone does legally own an e-text of the NIV84?

We do not accept an ebook as an electronic version. We really mean that it has to be prepared for another software application. Then we would ask you to purchase the Accordance NIV11 and we would make the NIV84 available to you in Accordance.

Todd,

Some years ago Logos had an Anglicised NIV 84 for sale @ $10.00, plus download their free logos engine.  I think this was still for sale as there was not Anglicised NIV 2011 at that point.  You could check the Logos website.

Just checked and the 1984 edition of the Anglicized NIV is still available in Logos.

Thanks for this.

So then, if I were to

1) buy this Logos Anglicized NIV (here)

2) and buy the Accordance NIV11,

then through what channel could I request to obtain access to the NIV84 in Accordance?

Hi Helen, I'm wondering if this offer is still available - if I purchase the NIV84 from Logos and show evidence will you be able to give me a copy of NIV 1984 on Accordance as well? I already own a copy of the NIV2011 - but I on more than one occasion have been asked to preach at a church that still has pew copies of the 1984 version and I'd really like an e-version in Accordance for that purpose. Thanks for considering, Peter.

No, sorry. The publishers are very strict on their terms. We are not allowed to sell TNIV nor NIV84. I don't know how others are allowed to do so.

Of course, you can always make a User Bible for your own use, from any etext that you have.

I think you misunderstood me. I know that these older versions cannot be sold, but I was wondering if those who already own the old TNIV can get a copy of it in Accordance like those who already own the NIV84 have been able to get a copy in Accordance?
