Great price on this fabulous work. I tend to like many of these volumes in this series more than the highly lauded Tyndale series. If you want a complete Bible commentary this is well worth a serious look at.

EDIT: I did not mean to imply Tyndale was not a good series, although reading it I realized it might come off that way.

Is this series comparable to NIVAC or ZIBCOT/NT?

NIVAC has its unique 'contemporary significance' emphasis, while ZIBBC contains many illustrations and images. Both are unique in that sense. UTBC is a great deal on a complete biblical commentary.

I was taking a look at bestcommentaries.com on this, and it's a bit confusing why the UB volume ratings don't come close to those of Tyndale. In fact, many of the UB volumes are labeled as 'not ranked'. Is it just because UB is more 'recent', or could there other factors involved in these rankings?

bestcommentaries.com has rankings that are, at best, not scientific. I use commentaries daily I love dearly that bestcommentaries.com thinks are the worst.

You might even be able to pick up on a theological bias in the ratings.

Mostly, I use the site to figure out what is available and how to get it :)

Totally agree dan. Having used some that best commentaries rate highly but been totally underwhelmed by the actual commentary. Useful to see what is available, and read some reviews but tend to trust people on this forum more as i have got to know them.

Plus i have some commentaries, i really value but best commentaries rates them poorly. Just as well we are all different!

The OT series in Understanding the Bible are relatively new, perhaps that's why they haven't been ranked individually yet.

I've been considering getting the Fire bible notes for a while now, so great deal for me. I ordered it yesterday, and it seems stuck at "charged"   :(

UPDATE: Thanks, looks like it has gone through now.
