How often is the "Book of Concord" used within the local Lutheran Church today? Not to dismiss adding it to Accordance, as it seems like an interesting read, just curiosity! Not to dismiss adding it to Accordance, as it seems like an interesting read, just curiosity! Depends on the church and the pastor. I use it frequently. Since Lutheran pastors promise at ordination to teach according to the Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions (i.e. the Book of Concord), it is a pretty significant work for us. It defines what makes Lutherans a confessing movement within the church catholic. The fact that a new translation came out a few years ago reinforces the fact of its ongoing importance for Lutherans. Lutheran church history goes through cycles. Some centuries the Book of Concord gathers dust. Other centuries it is dusted off. We've been in a dusting off period for the past century or so.
