Synching mobile device alternates crashing

Chuck Schneider

Recommended Posts

Got a new ipad pro 9.7 today and am pretty excited to use it, but It has been three hours of crashing either Accordance for Mac or Accordance for iOS.

I get most of the way through and then either one or the other crashes and none of the synch has succeeded.

(Accordance 11.2.4 for Mac and Accordance 2.4 for iOS)

Chuck,

Sounds like there might be a module that Accordance is having trouble encoding/decoding. You could try syncing your modules over in smaller groups (a section at a time). If you are still having trouble identifing the problem then you could contact our technical support to help diagnose the syncing issue.

Sorry that I cannot think of an easy “fix” for this problem,

Mike

Hi Mike,

I'm most of the way through synching. After I started doing small groups of modules, I discovered that it is only possible to synch with Accordance for iOS once before having to close it and start it again. This was what gave me the impression that I was alternately crashing the Mac version and the iOS version.

Hi Mike, after it all finished, there didn't appear to be any corrupted files. Is it possible that Accordance won't allow more than a certain number of files (or perhaps size) to be synched in one go?

I hit this issue regularly syncing user content on IOS devices with dropbox. It would be helpful if you could sync manually more than once without having to quit Accordance on an IOS device.

To help debug the issue, here are two crash logs from Mac Accordance trying to sync to iOS. The stacks look different, but without symbols in the binary, who knows. I allege Oak Tree doesn't profit from stripping symbols, rather from selling modules :)

I also experience the "you can only sync once" issue on iOS, where iAccord will immediately crash when the second WiFi sync starts.

Sorry for missing this question!

There should not be a “hard” limit on the number of files. When syncing a large number of files/data, I think that you are more likely to have sync problems from network/device interruptions, device free space, etc.   Working with smaller subsets of modules is probably more in-line with the original design/intent of WiFi syncing. Thank you for the feedback about improving large library data management.

I tried again this morning to reproduce the multiple WiFi syncing issue (11.2.4 and Accordance Mobile 2.4.2) and was able to do many WiFi sync sessions without issues. I will keep investigating.

Hi Steve,

Sorry for missing this, I have not had a problem with multiple dropbox syncs. Are you able to sync on your desktop without issue (if there are not changes then do you get a “nothing to sync” message?)?

I do not get any issues with syncing multiple times from the desktop. And yes I do get the "nothing to sync" message  on the desktop.

The issue is purely in IOS. The sequence is:

1. I highlight a verse in the ESVS on the iPad then sync it to dropbox that is OK.

2. I sync my iPhone to dropbox and the highlight will appear in the relevant text

3. I sync the iPad again in case there were any updates from the iPhone - but Accordance on the iPad crashes.

This is the latest version of IOS app.

If I now sync the iPad to dropbox again than Accordance crashes on the iPad.

Steve,

Thank you for the details, couple of questions:

  • Could you PM me a copy of the highlight file that you are using to see if I can reproduce the issue?
  • After updating the iPhone’s highlight file, are you able to update your desktop without issue?
  • If you do not have any local edits on your iPad, you could Reset User Content to get a fresh copy of your User Content from Dropbox.

Mike
