Todd Mogilner
I created an Accordance Service to query text using Joe Weaks tutorial from 2014. I am no longer able to get that to work. Depending on the program the ACC Query Service will not show up at all or I get the query box and it will never copy and paste within the program that I am working in. I have tested this in Word 2016, Mail, OmniOutliner, and Text Edit. I did see the topic in regards to: Get Verses services in Microsoft Word’s List Styles I was able to get those services to work. I am just wondering if someone smarter than me could take a look at the ACC Query Service and see if they can get that working also. I am running Mac OS 10.12 Sierra. Joe Weaks
Todd, I just built one on my machine and it works. Can you post a screenshot of your Service while open in Automator?
Todd Mogilner
I remade the workflow again tonight with the same result. I am able to get the workflow to work within Automator, but it is not showing up in any of my applications within the Services Menu. If I understand the Workflow, I should NOT have to highlight anything in order to access it. When I do highlight some text the service will show up, but still not work. Thank you for looking into it. Joe Weaks
It looks fine to me. Can you verify where the file has been saved? Is it in ~/Library/Services? Make sure you've restarted, btw. You said: "I am no longer able to get that to work." What do you mean? Did you have the Service installed and working fine for months, but now it "no longer" works? Any idea what has changed in your system? What have you installed? I would start out troubleshooting by creating a basic, dummy service, with a single "Display Notification" action or something similar. Can you create ANY custom "no input" service and get it to show up?
Todd Mogilner
Joe- I was able to get it to work finally. This may sound really stupid, but I think when you save the Automator document makes a difference. I followed your instructions except I did not save the document until last and I was able to get the Service to work correctly. This was true on both the Accordance workflow and also a display notification. I verified several times. If you save the document by title and then add steps into the document and save again it does not work. I appreciate you taking the time to help me troubleshoot! Joe Weaks
Glad it's working. I suspected it had to do with how/where it was saved.
