Brett K.
I'm talking to a friend about getting Accordance. He is very cautious about privacy and security on his computer and has a couple of questions. What type of information does Accordance transfer during updates, downloads, syncs, etc.? Does it transmit any personally identifiable information like names, contact info, account numbers, device IDs, IP address, etc?Does Accordance use an encrypted connection when it downloads, updates, syncs, etc.? If so, what does it use--SSL, AES, etc.? He also wants to know if he can use it on more than one machine. He says he and his wife would need to use it.Thank you Edited October 13, 2016 by Brett K. Joel Brown
In-app updates only send anonymous system information (OS, Ram, etc.) if allowed - a dialog is presented to the user the first time. Content updates send nothing personal at all. Downloads and syncs only send SSL encrypted username and password. The IP address is obviously visible as it is with any internet communication. We don't send device ids or anything else identifiable to the user, though. Regarding usage, from our Legal page: Single User Accordance must fulfill its obligations to publishers to account for and pay royalties on each copy of their works. Therefore our license policies are designed to protect publishers and authors, and not only Accordance. When you purchase Accordance you are in fact purchasing a license for just one user. We try to be flexible, therefore we allow you to install Accordance: on up to 5 computers or mobile devices for your own use, on a single computer for use by more than one user, or for family members if it is for occasional personal use only (rather than professional or intensive student use). If his wife would be using it for professional or intensive usage, she would need her own copy.
