Daily Feast and issue with Monday's reading

Back in September I picked up the full Feasting on the Word series when it was on special and as a consequence got the bonus of Daily Feast. Up till that time I had primarily been using the Ancient Christian Devotional on my MacBook Pro because of issues with the iOS release not supporting liturgical resources.

With 2.4 now supporting liturgical resources I have started using my iPad Air 2 more for devotionals and have found Daily Feast to be a great addition to routine. However I seem to run into one small problem that only occurs on Mondays.

Today (and other Mondays since I have been using Daily Feast on iOS) I find that when I select Daily Fest from the list of devotionals I end up time travel back to last Monday's readings. If I use the navigate buttons to view the previous and following entries I find that I end up at the right reading for the Sunday just gone and the upcoming reading for tomorrow (i.e. Tuesday)

Using today as an example I am shown the reading for Monday (Joel 2:23-32) from Daily Feast [Year C, p. 506]. Navigating back one day shows me the readings for Sunday (also Joel 2:23-32) [Year C, p. 512] and Tuesday (Habakkuk 1:1–4; 2:1–4) [Year C, p. 519].

Interestingly enough when Tuesday comes around the right reading for the day is shown, and if I navigate back to the reading for Sunday Monday it now shows the right reading for Monday (i.e. different from what it showed on the actual day of Monday).

My hunch would be that there is an algorithm issue with calculating the right date for the Monday. I also access the devotional from the GMT +10 timezone (+11 during daylight savings) if this is of any help.

And just to verify, if you open Daily Feast in the desktop app at the same time does it show the correct Monday reading?

Yeah. Mac works as expected and opens to the right reading.

Just double checked the Daily Feast in Accordance on iOS and now it is showing the right entry for Monday.

How strange!!!!!

Very strange.

The desktop and mobile app are theoretically using the same calculation so I would expect an error would show up on both places.

And it's certainly possible there is an error in your time zone due to the large offset to the +0 GMT zone. I'll have to play around some when I get a chance with large offsets to see if it can be reproduce.

Thanks for the report.

Opened up the devotional this morning and discovered that if I navigate back to Monday's reading it has reverted back a week. I have attached screenshots taken this morning showing the time stamp (AEDT = Australian Eastern Daylight Time which is GMT +11) for today's reading and the reading I get using the navigate button to go back to Monday.

One other consequence of the large time zone difference is that I now have to wait until 4pm Tuesday to find out what this weeks Accordance Sale items are. Previous to the change in daylight savings it was only 2pm. This has thrown my whole afternoon routine out

Actually make that after 3pm local time now.

And of course now Daily Feast starts showing the right entry for Monday

I can confirm that is definitely related to time zones issues. Regardless of whether I set the time automatically or manually the entry for Monday will be a week behind between the hours of midnight and 11am. (I'm assuming because of the large +11 offset to GMT AEDT is).

Watching it tick over at midnight and also manually setting the time to 10:58am to replicate the same thing confirms the issue.

Funny that this is not an issue for other days or for Mac. Could be an underlying iOS bug.

Suspect that it is only for those few who use daily feast on iOS in a timezone > GMT +6.  They would be the only one who might ever run into this problem.

And if you do this same test in the desktop app everything works?

yes. Mac always seems to calculate the right time and day regardless of time setting.

To confim, manually set the date and time to Monday morning on my Mac just this moment making sure the timezone was set to Sydney and the right entry came up.
