Accessing Papers on iOS

I have not upgraded to version 12 yet, but am contemplating if the near $50 is worth the 2 new features: stacks and papers. Stacks looks useful. I want to say Papers would be great to write sermons in. That is unless I can't access them on iOS. I use my iPad for preaching, so I would need to access sermons written in Papers in Accordance on Mac via my iPad. Does the iOS version of Accordance recognize things written with the Papers feature?  If not, what are the export options for getting the Paper into a format another app might recognize?

The iOS app does not support Papers. It is being considered for addition in a future release.

As far as I know, you cannot view your papers at this time in Accordance for iOS. They do export well as PDF files, but it does not appear you can export them easily to another format, like Word or Pages.

As far there being only two new features, that is incorrect. The Info Pane updates are a major improvement, especially putting Grammars into the info pane. As someone who prepares sermons from the original language texts, I find this update to be a significant feature. I also like how other categories are broken out, such as study Bibles and the key words. The analytics have all been significantly overhauled as well.

I do agree that there is some feature disparity between Mac and iOS, and I am hopeful the next iOS major update will at least allow for bookmark syncing, stacks, and paper viewing. But the upgrade is well worth it for sermon prep.

I'm glad about the PDF export. That is just fine for sermon presentation.

I disagree with the Info Pane improvements being new features. Those are just refinements to existing features. (just splitting hairs to be a pain)

I'm curious about how the grammars line up in the info pane. Would you mind posting a screenshot? I don't yet have a collection that contains any grammars, but I would probably upgrade to one just to have the grammars in the info pane if that feature works well.

Here is a screenshot of Luke 13:28, which has four Greek grammars that reference it. Obviously, this feature is only as useful as the number of grammars you have in your collection, but I love the fact that I can see when a grammar has a note on a particular verse. I'd love to see Lexicons added when they reference a particular verse.

I agree about the PDFs.

The info pane really is a lot more useful.  Being able to rearrange the order in which the categories appear is very helpful and I took advantage of that new feature during testing.  Being able to have quick info (like study Bibles) at the top is great; commentaries when you want to go deeper.  And I agree with Robb that knowing which grammar has something to say about a particular verse is a big time-saver.

I'm using Stacks during my devotional reading time to make note of verses and words I want to explore when there is the time to do it – that particular Stack is called Rabbits to Chase – I've learned a lot over the years by running them down.

Hello Robb

I see in your image a NIV Themaic Study Bible, I saw this also in the Sneak Peek #3 Video from David Lang.

But I can't find it in the Store. Is this in Beta, or is this not available anymore?

Greetings

Fabian

It was discontinued, and instead we offer the Bible Themes Dictionary by the same editor.

The info pane also showing manuscript images directly in the pane is also a new feature, plus also the Word List.

Now it would be cool if the manuscripts are tagged by verse like in BW.

I'm not a pastor but I do use a mac and IOS on an ipad and I just wanted to add that you can print "papers" from your macbook and they will shoot right into your iBooks app and the cloud and thus be accessible via all of your devices.

From what I've dabbled in so far, papers and stacks are awesome and a welcome addition to a great piece of software.

  • 1 month later...

Throw in 2 cents. Info pane. Really nice. As that continues to develop I think that's a major game changer in the way I use Accordance. Really sharp.

For me, the customizable keyboard shortcuts makes this a fantastic upgrade. Awesome.

Analytics is an improvement also.

The library organization continues to improve and get easier. That's a big deal. Try using Logo... Sorry. Shouldn't have said it.

Stacks and papers... I'm still playing with it to figure out how I would use it or how it would fit into my workflow in a significant way.
