Export a 'Paper' to an editable file format

I think we need some way to export a Paper out of Accordance into an editable document. Perhaps in RTF or even DOCX format.

Working in papers is fine, though I hope to see some bugs and annoyances refined over time, but I feel like I can't justify doing real work in it unless I can be sure I can get my data out and rework/reformat it when needed. As is, even the PDF file that you can 'print' interprets some letter combinations as symbols rather than letters; so I can't even copy/paste out of the PDF into a Word document.

Additionally, we need some keyboard shortcuts for navigating and creating outline items!

That said, I am enjoying many of the new features of v12 and look forward to figuring out how to make the most of them.

Thanks!

You can already save a Paper as RTF but you won't get any images exported to it.

Select the tab so it's the active tab.

File->Save As Text File -> RTF

You could then manually add any images if you have them.

This RTF file can then be pulled into something like LibreOffice.

Thx

I had not thought about working with the Paper through the File menu and the options available there—too focused the Printing function as the tool that would provide export options since the print tool had the export to PDF function.  Good job דָנִיאֶל!

So in 12.1 a .docx or .odt output with images are great.

Is it possible to create tables? Or another question are tables now supported by import of User Tools?

Greetings

I don't know of any way to create tables in any user content, except to manually format fixed width font content.

Thx

Daniel, you are exactly right! I can't believe I missed it. Thank you!

Solly, I think I made the same mental oversight you describe. I'm glad I wasn't alone. :)

Sorry for the confusion. I would like to see more export options if possible (including with pictures), but RTF is a great start.

RTFD isn't too far removed from RTF, at least alphabetically. How difficult to implement can it be?

RTFD is surprisingly different, and is a macOS only filetype.

When I try the File->Save As Text File -> RTF it wants to save as a .png and the .png is blank. Similar result for save as text but I get a blank .jpeg.

Any clues?

Thanks, Dave.

The File->Save As Text File -> RTF procedure does not work for me (using Accordance 12.0.6).  When I select the tab and go to file the "save as text file" is not an option.  But Dr. J. in his podcast on stacks indicated that Stacks were exportable.  Any suggestions as to how I can export stacks?

Soli Deo Gloria,

Bryan
