Photoguide Upgrades

I've previously owned Photoguide 4 and have just upgraded to the Graphics Discoverer which includes Photoguide Overview and Israel. Is it necessary for me to keep PG4 or does it still have material not included in the new modules.  Thanks.

I've noticed that some photos from PG4 have been taken out of the (almost identical) PG overview, and replaced with links to modules that require an additional purchase.

Please could you give some examples of this?

Abel Beth-Maacah in PhotoGuide 4 contains 8 images, but in the new PhotoGuide Overview module it contains two and then links to PhotoGuide Israel, which I don't have (though the OP does).

The Entry for Egypt in Photoguide 4 contains 39 images, where PhotoGuide Overview contains 4 with a link to PhotoGuide Egypt, which I don't have.

I've not checked it particularly thoroughly, so there might be advantages to having the Overview, but I think it's only going to be an upgrade if you buy the other modules too.

It seems in General there are more content. But they have splittet it in different module. So the Egypt content from PGO has moved to the PGE.

Aye, but going back to the OP question about whether it's worth keeping PhotoGuide 4, if he only has the Israel module, it's probably still worth his while to keep it for areas like Egypt, Turkey etc until/unless he's bought the new modules for them?

There is an upgrade price for the new Photo Guide Collection that may be of interest if you want to get the modules to replace Photo Guide 4 without upgrading to Graphics Pro. If you are primarily interested in that collection and the Photo Museum 2, upgrading those 2 modules, assuming you have Photo Museum 1 and Photo Guide 4 may be preferable to purchasing a graphics collection and leaving links to products you do not own.

Excellent! Thanks for pointing that out! It's a much cheaper upgrade for me than the other route.

Thanks for mentioning this. I upgraded for $35 (which seems cheap for 4 of 6 guides???). I then went and checked to the Graphics Pro again for kicks to see how much the price was adjusted and it wasn't adjusted at all. It shows that I don't own those 4 guides. .....

By comparing I saw that the Triple Discoverer cost for me with the Webinar coupon code less than the Genealogy module normal. Now with this I have the Photoguide upgrade and others included.

And I learned something new in the webinar. Benefit in both direction.

Just checked and confirm that the upgrade price on the Graphics Collections do not change. You may need to contact sales to get your correct upgrade price.

My guess is that it will take a while longer for your record to update (not even sure if it is automatic or not) - I've got the same issue, though.

I think if you clear your browser cache and delete the accordance bible cookie, it will recalculate for you. The change in price will not be dollar for dollar. If you want Graphics Pro, you should buy it rather than the upgrade I suggested above as you will spend more. However, If you do not want Graphics Pro or bought Graphic Discoverer, but want to have the upgraded Photo Guides, I think my suggestion is worthy of consideration.

Thanks for all your responses and discussion... things are becoming a bit clearer.

Now that I own, PG4, Overiew and Isreal. My upgrade calculator says that I can now upgrade to the  'Set of 6 Collections', (link below)  for just $22.  That seems very fair for four extra modules:

  • Near East Collection (nearly 600 photos)
  • Egypt Collection (over 420 photos)
  • Europe Collection (nearly 900 photos)
  • Turkey Collection (over 650 photos)

I guess I would want to keep PG4 until I own all the Photoguide modules.

Thanks again.

Me 22.xx$ too, but for me the Graphics Pro is 4$ cheaper.

Correct. There were some areas that received significant additions (from PG4 to the new 6-volume set), but unless you have all 6 volumes, you will want to keep PG4. Once you upgrade, you will not need to retain PG4 in your Library.

The reason for breaking the PhotoGuide into separate volumes (as I understand it) is that it was quickly reaching the 2GB limit for an Accordance module. Breaking it apart allows us to expand it in the future.

  • 2 weeks later...

So when doing a search for say “Ephesus” is it more prudent to start with the “Overview” module or go straight to “Turkey”? I am finding some difference in content plus what seems to be a lot of overlap.

The text content is largely the same, it's the additional pictures which add value to the other 5 in the set.

I went to the Collections and then logged into my account.  I already own PhotoGuide 4.  My upgrade price was just under $27.  I think that is a bargain.  While there are some other intriguing resources available in the Graphics Collections, we have plenty for now – observe my exercise in restraint.

I have PhotoGuide 3. What is the best bang for the buck upgrade path? I added the upgrade to my cart and I see a total of $50.15 for PhotoGuide Set (6).

Easy Install is continually crashing Accordance requiring numerous restarts. Installed 4. Downloading the last 2.
