highlighting word in notes highligths area after word

When I select a word in a user note by highlight it with my mouse the blue highlight indicator goes after the word and highlights the rest of the line.  To reset to default color I have to put cursor behind word and change the color. Windows Accord 12.0.1. This happens every time when I select a word I've just typed.

 

Or is there some other way to highlight a word/words without it going to the end of the line?
