Accordance 12 startup speed

Hello Accordancers,

Is it just me, or does Accordance 12 take much more time than 10 and 11 to startup? I'm talking 5 or 10 times longer. I'm still using a Macbook Pro (mid-2012, 2.9 GHz Core i7, 8 GB memory) with an actual hard drive, but was using the same machine before upgrading to 12. The speed of actual searches and other things don't seem much different, just the startup time. Is there a reason for this?

I noticed it slower but didn't think it was that much... Seems to be a fairly consistent 10 seconds on my computer not sure how quick it was earlier.

I confess to not having noticed. I usually start up comparatively infrequently and usually have multiple workspaces open which run queries on boot up so it's hard to tell. It would probably matter what you have open. Doing a battery of simple tests, like opening with just a a blank default session, opening with a single saved workspace and then with a more complex session like I mentioned above.

I am running a 2009 Core-Duo desktop so perhaps it's already way slower than you would normally experience so I didn't notice a little more slow down. I usually click away and do other things while it's coming up or go get a coffee or ... any one of a million other things, so can't say I've paid much attention to it I'm afraid.

Might be useful to develop some standard tests

Thx

D

I've noticed an ever-so-slight lag with various operations across the app since the Cocoa rewrite of 11.2. I'm talking fractions of a second in most cases, though, so it's still fast.

Yes, the start-up time for 12 seems to be a bit slower for me, too, though not by a factor of five or ten in my case.

I find it (12.02)  to be quite slow to start in Windows 8.1 and 7

It's certainly a little slower. However, I still have to occasionally start Logos, and it takes 5 minutes on my laptop sometimes, and drains the whole battery (which normally lasts a day) in about 3 hours even if your not using it—so Accordance doesn't bother me so much.
