Λύχνις Δαν
Hi ya, Acc 12.0.3 Mac 10.11.6 I noticed today while chasing something else that the ketiv in the ETCBC HB that the ketiv are consonantal while the qere are pointed. In addition the ketiv are only partially morph tagged while the qere are completely tagged. To explain that better I'll use this example from Jer 2:27: ”אֹמְרִ֨ים לָעֵ֜ץ אָ֣בִי אַ֗תָּה וְלָאֶ֙בֶן֙ אַ֣תְּ ילדתני [יְלִדְתָּ֔נוּ] כִּֽי־פָנ֥וּ אֵלַ֛י עֹ֖רֶף וְלֹ֣א פָנִ֑ים וּבְעֵ֤ת רָֽעָתָם֙ יֹֽאמְר֔וּ ק֖וּמָה וְהוֹשִׁיעֵֽנוּ׃“(Jeremiah 2:27 Hebrew Masoretic Text with ETCBC Morphology)accord://read/MT-ETCBC#Jer._2:27 Now the ketiv/qere are marked in bold. The tagging is as follows: Ketiv : verb - not tagged, suffix tagged : ני Suffix (Predicate with Object Suffix) Qere : verb tagged : [יְלִדְת ילד Verb qal qtl 2 masc sing bear, bring forth; beget [German: gebären, hervorbringen; erzeugen] (Predicate with Object Suffix)[ESVS] H3205 birth suffix tagged : ָ֔נוּ] Suffix pronom (Predicate with Object Suffix)-- Is this expected ? I expect it will affect searches where bracketed words are excluded. In the HMT both are tagged and thus searches with and without brackets will find hits. Helen Brown
Interesting, but I suspect that this is the text we received from ETCBC so users will just need to work with it. I am sure that one of the developers will check the original database for you.
Helen Brown
We have looked at the original data and ss we understand it, the data of ETCBC is correctly represented, and there is no need to make any changes in our text.
