Gedalya
Does this volume now include the full text of the English print version which includes the very important Prolegomena chapter with its Introduction?
Helen Brown
The accompanying Notes file includes an extensive introduction but it is not labeled Prolegomena. The copyright is from 1999 so I suspect that we do not have an updated edition. We can look into acquiring it.
Gedalya
The hard cover revised edition that I have is dated to March 31, 2005. In the Preface to the Revised edition, the authors state: "We have revised virtually every translation and every text introduction, often substantially. These revisions are an effort to take account of a generation's worth of change in the field of Dead Sea Scrolls research...." It seems to me that an update would be quite valuable.
Martin Abegg
Gordon: The QUMENG has only ever been a text module reflecting the translation only from The Dead Sea Scrolls: A New Translation. There is introductory and commentary materials throughout that many would find useful, I am sure. The issue is complicated by the fact that we have continued to correct and add to the module, in essence making the QUMENG module a further revision of sorts of the 2005 book. As per Helen's comment below, perhaps you have initiated a review of how to present this material more helpfully. שלום וברכה marty
Gedalya
Marty and Helen, Thanks so much for your responses. Are the short introductions to each of the texts that are featured in the text edition included in the module?

Gedalya
I would like to renew my request made over 2 years ago that the Prolegomena and introductions to the texts be included in this module. These additions are vital for understanding the texts in this volume! Any possiblity?

Gedalya
I am renewing my request again and looking for a response from the Accordance staff. Thanks!
Helen Brown
We would need to devote considerable effort into acquiring a license, and with the updated edition that would be even more complicated. It does not look like it will happen any time soon.
