Λύχνις Δαν
Hi ya, Acc 12.0.4 Mac 10.11.6 I wanted to know the number of genitives in the NA28 Greek NT. A simple search or construct for [ANY genitive] returns 19636. If I do a * search for all words and then open a pie chart and classify by case, i see 23530 genitives. This is a difference of 3894. It took me a few minutes but it turns about that this is due to prepositions. The proper prepositions (3356) plus improper prepositions (538) total to the 3894. So the question is this. I am wondering what should be done here. My starting position is that the two searches should report the same numbers, but perhaps there are arguments to the contrary - if so I'd be interested to hear them. My guess is that the pie chart is incorrect in including the prepositions as prepositions do not really have case as such. Thoughts, comments ? thx D

Helen Brown
The prepositions take the genitive form, they are not genitive forms themslves. Thus I agree they should not be included in the pie chart, but it may not be such an easy fix.
