A. Smith
As the title says. Actually, I shouldn't say crash. Actually, it quits responding. Hangs. Regardless of the lexeme, the app freezes when search for a word in all lexicons. Interestingly, it seems to only happen when searching greek lexicons. I'm using 12.0.4. Doesn't matter if accused through right click or manual entry into a research pane. Edited March 6, 2017 by A. Smith
Λύχνις Δαν
Have you tried rebuilding the research cache ? Done through the Research preferences page. Thx D
Fabian
Can you open all lexicons from the library one by one? I had a similar bug. There was a module corrupt and the Research searched till this module and hangs then. Do also use the temporary folder for research and put one to one lexicon in it. So you found the one which is corrupt. Or if you don't have highlights you can also delete one by one and later with easy install bring to your library again. Maybe a simple update brings the solution. By me the developers had to solved the problem first till the research was running perfectly again with all modules. A. Smith
BDAG is the problem child. I deleted and reinstalled. No help. What next? Also, I can search BDAG no problem. The problem only comes when included in a research search.
Fabian
Can you post the lexeme which you want to search, so we can try?
A. Smith
Can you post the lexeme which you want to search, so we can try? Any. Makes no difference which word or its number of occurrences.
Fabian
I had no problem. BDAG V. 2.3. Sorry I had no clue why it doesn't work by you.
Joel Brown
So just to be sure, if you make a Custom research group (or a User Group) with just BDAG, it crashes for every single word choice? What if you search it by verse reference? Do you get a crash log from any of the crashes?
A. What if you search it by verse reference? Do you get a crash log from any of the crashes? It doesn't actually crash, it hangs. I misspoke in the title. But yes, when I make BDAG it's own research group, it hangs regardless of what I'm searching for. But, If I'm simply searching BDAG for any type of content, it works fine. The hang only happens in a research tab. EDIT: after trying agin this morning, everything works fine. I don't know what to say. My computer is in the exact same condition it was yesterday, all I've done is open the lid and wake it up. No restart anything. Oh well. It works. Thanks. Edited March 7, 2017 by A. A. Smith
And we're back. It's hanging again on BDAG searches FROM THE RESEARCH PANE. Any other method of searching BDAG is no problem. But if I make BDAG it's own folder and either right click> research> [the folder with BDAG] it hangs. Or, if I search my greek lexicons while BDAG is removed it will work fine. I'll then manually set the search scope to the folder with BDAG and it hangs. This is the only way it hangs.
A. Smith
However, if I run a search from the research box on the upper right, it will search BDAG, no issues. For example, entered 'test' in to the box, it ran and found nothing because it was searching for verses. I switched the search to English words in the research pane and it searched BDAG. Searching for a verse also searches BDAG with no problem. However, If I limit the search to a folder that BDAG is in, it hangs. On a whim, I moved all my greek lexicons to a new folder along with BDAG. That did nothing.
Fabian
Since you have found the problem child. It would be good to screen share with the support team. Now it should be faster solved. Another question. If you triple click on Greek word and the Lexicon came, you can if ( is activated) click in the lexicon and with arrow left right go through the lexicons. Does BDAG work? A. Smith
Yes. I can do that just fine.
Fabian
And what Daniel wrote? Have you installed the BDAG always new with easy install?
A. Smith
And what Daniel wrote? Have you installed the BDAG always new with easy install? Yes. After talking with tech support, it seems I've got a corrupt workspace. No issues with a new workspace. Frustrating, I've put a lot of time into designing a pretty complicated workspace. And this isn't the first time I've had a workspace issue. But I'm glad it's solved.
Fabian
Mmmh. I was short before to ask you if you select a word and search in another workspace which then the Research is running. If then the problem still exist. Great to hear that the problem is solved.
Joel Brown
Can you send me, or post here, the affected workspace?
A. Smith
Can't upload it here or in messages. But heres a link to my DB. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/h7mve6swmviodud/AADGfvnkAA-YBR-lw-PezYpMa?dl=
A. Smith
Not sure where this ended up, but I've still got the issue. A sync of only greek lexicons, with BDAG in the folder, results in crash. Any other type of search including BDAG has no issue.
Joel Brown
Very interesting, it seems as though this issue only occurs when your workspace is full screen. Not sure why yet, but we'll keep investigating.
Joel Brown
Ah! Problem found, and it was not to do with the fullscreen. There is a bug where if you attempt to display Research results for a tool that is being linked to, it will hang. In your case, since Louw & Nida was linking to BDAG, this created the problem. This is now fixed for the next build of Accordance, but in the meantime, you can work around it by naming your BDAG tab anything else, like 'BDAG 2' or 'Greek Lexicon', or really anything aside from plain 'BDAG'. Thanks so much for finding the issue!
