I've been thinking about her a lot today. I went back through the last few emails we exchanged, and was even more humbled to have been able to work with her. She was very optimistic that she would fully recover, and return to work ("not if but when I return to work…"). This is a great loss, both personally and professionally. I only wish I had taken more time to get to know her more personally than I had.

For those that care to know, here's a list of some of the more recent projects she worked on in the last couple years. She was such a team player; agreeing to work on any project we assigned, and gave it her same precision no matter the content.

Rick, I can only say the same: I've also been thinking about her these past few days and why things didn't go the way we - and she - had hoped they would. Ever modest and optimistic in our correspondence as well, she didn't want to make us worry. While I couldn't help but worry, I tried to push it aside as much as possible. So, of course, the message came as a shock.

I got to know Mikhal professionally through the Ugaritic project, and, in time, personally as well. I want to say something, yet I feel my words won't be able to do her justice. It is still so strange to talk about her in the past tense. This is the best I can do:

אֱנוֹשׁ כֶּחָצִיר יָמָיו כְּצִיץ הַשָּׂדֶה כֵּן יָצִיץ׃

כִּי רוּחַ עָבְרָה־בּוֹ וְאֵינֶנּוּ וְלֹא־יַכִּירֶנּוּ עוֹד מְקוֹמוֹ׃

זיכרונה לברכה
