Three panels for iOS?

I've been using my iPad for study now for a few weeks, aside from the major problem with browsing to switch resources which I outlined in a previous post,1 there does seem to be another super annoying problem.

For me, the next biggest problem is that I can't open three panels at once. Obviously it would be better to be able to open more than 3—but two is just not enough. I say this, because my most common use case is to: "Read the Hebrew/Greek, with a reasonably literal English translation, and a commentary alongside". Because there are only two panels, I have to continually flick between resources while I am half way through reading a verse to check a translation, a word, or a commentary note connected to a question in the original language.

I am guessing a work around, once iOS 11 comes out, will be the split screen, i.e We could probably split screen Accordance and Logos side by side so you can see three panels at once. iOS 11 can't come soon enough  :)

[1]: The 'recently used' list/screen never contains what I am looking for, and is often too long anyway, so searching is generally quicker, so the 'recently used' list/screen seems to always just get in the way by adding extra taps to the process of switching resources

I agree and have also raised this several times in the new feature thread as its also the major frustration with what we currently have and am surprised it hasnt been sorted earlier. much of the solution has already been coded and we can benefit from how it works Where it has been partially implemented.

1) if i have a text and reference open i can tap on the name in the title bar and see all my texts or reference tools so easily switch. However if i open a reference on its own i have to go through to library to switch it. I should be able to open any resource and then select the name in the title bar to see all my resources in that category to switch easily. This would be the same for english, greek, hebrew and general tools as well as the reference where it has been partially implemented compared to the devotional and texts where it has been perfectly implemented. Currently i frequently open just one resource as i would a book and am sad that the library analagoy has been retained for non text resources where i have to get up and go to my library in a different room to get another book ;o(

While text and devotional have been perfectly implemented and its impossible to open them without the ability to easily switch them from their name in the tool bar. ;o)

2) currently the two panes only allow us, devotional and text, text and text or text and reference, but as they can be unsynced, we need to be able to have any combination, general and text, text and greek, reference and reference, etc. So we need all the different categories at the top of each pane.

A third pane would be nice, especially if we can specify all 3 in parallel or one along the bottom a bit like the full fat instant details pane.

As a current work around while you wait for three or more panes, you could try something like this?

I find the search and amplify from the pop up quite useful in reducing clicking. not sure of your workflow and you don't get proper access to the original language tools but you can switch on and off your reasonably litereral translation in the interlinear check box quite quickly so keep your commentary in the second pane.

I would love a third vertical pane for parallels and the like and a fourth horizontal pane at the bottom (that could just be the Info Pane and non-configurable other than hide/show if necessary).  I guess I should post that in feature requests, although I think other similar variants may have already been requested.

Generally this only shows word meanings, word meanings are generally not a problem for me, I usually want an English translation to  check how it has been rendered into plain English. Especially when there are weird idioms. For example: literally 'woman and sisters' in Hebrew, means 'one another' in Ezekiel 3

There are lots of settings for interlinear and if you scroll down you will see all your tagged texts.

Niv is in the above screen shot.

;o)

I should have said that while i am critical of some aspects of the navigation, when it comes to the interlinear, i dont know who was involved in drafting the requirements or doing the coding but virtually every conceivable computation has been considered and implemented.

Clearly someone who thought about it in depth and is a user. Interlinear has been implemented flawlessley. It way exceeded my expectations and gave me things i didnt know i needed. I can even have different settings for my hebrew, greek and different english translations.

Have a dig in the settings and see what is available.

This really does give a flavour of what the app can be and delighted this customer. Many thanks.
