I just purchased and started learning how to use the Morphology of Biblical Greek by William Mounce on Accordance. The Accordance webpage and the book itself both say that the book comes with an index where each word in the NT is listed with its Morphological tagging, but I cannot find the index. It is not listed on the table of contents for the book, there is no heading with the word "Index," it is not in the book itself after the last section, and searching for it in the search bar reveals nothing. Is it a separate purchase?

I don't recall an index in the Acc version exactly but I usually search by Greek Content and find the word that way. In the paper edition IIRC there is an index indicating which morphological category the word is listed under and you then go to that section for the relevant patterns. For example n1-a,  cv-1 etc. I am not able to check my paper copy at present I'm afraid so hopefully someone can give you that info.

In Acc you should be able to highlight a word and amplify to MBG or just type in a word and do a Greek Content search.

[ EDIT: This section is not correct - see later post below. Leaving in place so that the flow of the thread remains sensible:

Ok just playing with this as I write I stumbled on the index which is not listed in the Tool Browser (contents). It begins on p 395. Actually it appears in the Appendix section as Lexicon - it's the last appendix. ]

Thx

D

My highest page number is 319 with the section on Class v-8 verbs. There's nothing after that.

My profuse apologies. I was looking at another resource (BBG also by Mounce). You are correct. The index is not present and indeed the resource only has 319 pages. The way I usually use it is to search as I said.

Thx

None taken, I understand completely. If this is the case then the Accordance staff might need to update the information for this item to show that their is in fact no Index to look up the morphological tags of words (no offense meant to the staff).

Because normally Accordance cut the Index because of the search function it is not needed. They have deleted this here too, but here it is more than a word Index.

Just my wild guess.

Hi Fabian,

I have many books in Logos because I bought them before Acc for Windows came out. I just wanted to point out that unless Logos did it themselves, there is an electronic text of the Index.

Yes, we've had the discussion about Indexes before. Some Indexes are important for students who don't know what to search for in the first place. This Index in Logos is valuable because it is not only hyperlinked, but a popup shows the information instantly, and not just the paradigms.

Regards,

Michel

I am extremely new to using Greek with Accordance, so I appreciate all of this clarification. So basically, if I wanted to look up the morphology of δοκεω in MBG, I should just search for it in the window's search pain? Or is there a way to get a tool that shows me a Greek word's morphological tagging in the instant details?

Yes. Select the Greek Content search field and type or paste the word into the search box. As to instant details it can be configured to show part of speech, person and so on but if won't show declension or MBG categories.

Thx
