iPad widescreen support

When I use my iPad in airplay mode, it puts black strips on the right and left of the tv.  It's a widescreen, and Accordance on my iPad is in 4:3 aspect ratio.  I've noticed that some apps keep this 4:3 aspect ratio.  However, other apps use up the native resolution of the tv.  I'm requesting that the folks at Accordance look into having it put on the tv in full 16:9 format through airplay.  Could you please have a look into this?

Interesting thought. In my use of an iPad connected to my Apple TV or to a projector, the iPad automatically switches to a 16:9 aspect ratio in Keynote or PowerPoint (if the presentation itself is 16:9) and the movie player. I've not seen other apps that are not necessarily dedicated to presenting content change the aspect ratio. Do you know of other apps that do this? 

 

Also, when apps change the aspect ratio from the iPad, it's more like an extended desktop as the iPad screen looks different in all three of the apps I mention above. I'm not certain how that would work in the Accordance Mobile app. As mentioned, I'd be interested to know how other non-presentation apps might handle this. 

 

Keep in mind that I'm not a programmer, so my questions are mainly out of curiosity.
