Migrating highlights from one module to another

With the recent revisions to the NIGTC, PNTC & ZEC modules, I am having troubles getting my highlights to sync properly between my ipad and my Mac. I suspect this is because I have not updated to the new modules on my ipad (e.g. I am still running NIGTC instead of NIGTC-13, PNTC-16 instead of PNTC-14 etc.), but have downloaded the newer versions on my Mac. I don't seem to be able to roll back to NIGTC on the Mac.

 

So, my question is, is there a way that I can migrate / restore my highlights on the newest versions?

I believe that the correct solution is to upgrade your iPad versions to the new ones. Then on the Mac transfer the highlights from the old to the new versions of the commentaries, and sync the updated highlights to the iPad.

Hi Helen, thanks for your response. I tried upgrading PNTC on my ipad, but that made all my highlights for that module disappear :-( At this stage, my ipad has the most up to date versions of all my highlights, and I am reluctant to make changes there, at least until my current set of research projects is complete.

 

I'm also not exactly sure what you mean by 'transfer the highlights from the old to the new versions'. Are you referring to a manual process where i have both old and new modules open side by side and copy each highlight individually into the new one? If so, the are a couple of problems with that: (1) I cannot get the older NIGTC module to download onto my Mac; (2) this sounds like a laborious process, that I will then have to repeat every time a new volume is added to the series.

 

Have I misunderstood what you are proposing?

 

I am a software engineer, and would be open to a solution whereby I write code to solve this problem if need be.

Thanks Helen. The 'transfer' procedure seems to have been successful for ZEC, but not for PNTC or NIGTC. The latter appear to have disappeared entirely from both my Mac and my iPad :-/

Please check for Content Updates first since sometimes the link for the Highlight migration isn't set correctly on first release.

 

Then be sure you have the correct Highlight file loaded. You may find the original file in Documents: Accordance Files: Old Highlights.
