Wondering if you have plans to allow for SD Card storage for books? OT has this but Logos doesn't. Would be a big help for Accordance if you did.

Kevin, are you referring to the idea of keeping the program on the main storage, but all content on the SD Card--kind of like the option we offer in Accordance 12 for Windows for using a secondary drive for data?

I ask because I have Accordance installed on an SD card on my Amazon Fire, but it's everything (as far as I know).

This wasn't a target of V1.0, but I can look into adding it. Apparently it is *supposed to be* just a one-line xml setting to support it. (Famous last words.) But my el-cheapo Android tablet / sd card aren't allowing me to move either the Accordance or other apps to the sd card. My even more el-cheapo Android trac phone doesn't even support an sd card, and yet another tablet I purchased needs an odd USB cable so I can debug (on order).

So, I'll look at it (no promises for V1.0) -- and I have no idea how Rick accomplished this without that one xml line. :)

Android is indeed pretty much the Wild West...

When I added the microSD card to the Amazon Fire, it asked me if I wanted to install apps there going forward, and I said yes.

Not so much the Wild West:

Settings > Apps > Accordance > Storage  > Change > SD card

Edit: . . .or something similar. On (really) old Samsung phones, it used to be Settings > Applications > Manage applications > name of app > Move to SD card

Interesting. My tablet won't let me do that.

I have an SD card, the 'change' option doesn't appear under storage.

Hi again,

I just looked up 5.0 and 5.1 online to help me recall where it was on my S4 with 5.1, and it should be something like Settings > Apps > Downloaded > Accordance > Move to SD Card

We've been able to move apps to an SD card for ages now; I don't remember a time when we couldn't. If Nextbook is an el-cheapo tablet, they probably didn't have enough resources to take stock Android and delete this function. If I recall correctly, every Android version (since 2.0) allowed app management, and if equipped with an SD, its management also.

Regards

Maybe I'm blind, but I don't see the option, but I can look at the files on the SD card.

Sorry I can't be of more help. I've only used Samsung tablets and phones and this new Huawei, and they all allowed transfer to the SD card. And I was told the Huawei was like the Google Pixel with stock Android, so I assumed all Android devices could do this.

I mean installing books on sd card but the app on main storage. Android often doesn't play nice if the app is on the sd card so i like to keep them on the main storage.

There is another possibility, though it is all or nothing, not what Kevin asked for. I agree with Kevin that it's probably better to have the main program on internal storage, but it might be useful for some in the meantime. Try Settings > Advanced settings > Memory & storage > Default location > SD card . I'm going to install mine on my SD card, when I'm able to, and I'll report if there are any problems. I've never had a problem with any app on external storage, but I've only used Samsung phones and tablets, and now my new Huawei phone.

On my Fire HD 10, the option to MOVE TO SD CARD is greyed out. I can live with it being on the main storage (I have a 64GB model), but it would be nice to get that line of XML turned on so it could run from the SD card.

So I've tried this out a little now. It varies by Android version and application according to what I've read on the web.

Android 5.0 can only move apps that support it. Acc does not apparently yet as the Move to SD Card button in the Application Manager is greyed out.

Android 7.1.1 allowed me to turn the SD Card over to general use by the tablet (meaning installing apps, storing photos etc.) or just for data transfer use cases. I did the former. Then when I installed Accordance it was installed directly on the external device, so it says. So this seems to be very like Rick's Fire experience.

Thx

D

This is correct.  4.x wouldn't allow storing to SD at all but 5 works if the app supports it

My System: Accordance 12.x on Windows 10 Pro.

I should probably also have been clearer that I think it would be a nice enhancement for Acc if Android 5.0 support is intended to last for some time that it support this.

Thx

Hi,

I have in my hand right now my wife's old Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 with Android 2.3.4.

Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > name of application > Move to phone/Move to SD Card. Some apps are on the phone, some on the card.

You could do this on Samsung phones since Android 2, even if it's the app and the data. Later, some apps allowed the separation of the main engine on internal storage, and data on external storage.

Regards,

Michel

Interesting. I wonder then how much this support varies with different Android ports from different vendors.

I see that 12.1.41 adds the permission to read and write the SD Card but on my Note III running 5.0 this does not fix the issue of not being able to move the data to the SD Card. The button is still greyed out.
