Martin Z
This has been a long term issue. I think I've reported long ago. The crashing is not consistent. So I just simply restarted and did nothing with it. Now I decide to report it, to see if anyone can reproduce it. When I update a user note by clicking the Update button, or when I simply close the note editing window without saving it, Accordance would crash. This is not consistent. Sometimes it does not crash. But it crashes frequently enough for me. I don't know if crashing logs help or not. If helpful, I can upload.

showens
Martin, is this Windows or Mac?
Martin Z
Hello Showens, Thanks for asking. This is the Mac version. I posted under "Bug Swatters - Mac". Hello Joel, This is a rather happy embarrassment. I have not had a single crash since I posted this!!! I remember I just had a crash before (or not long before) I posted this post. If you can let me know where Accordance stores the crash log, I'd be happy to upload it. Thanks!
Martin Z
Ok. Just got one crash a moment ago. Can't upload rtf file. So I'll just paste the log info. here. It happened when I close the note edit window. Martin Z
Another crash. This happened when I click the update button after editing notes. These two types of crashes represent all my previous crashes. So I will not upload other crash logs anymore. Martin Z
The crash never goes away I'm very frustrated when I close the user notes edit window or click "update" notes button, it almost always crashes... Does it only happen to me?
Steve King
I must admit I have not noticed any issues with updating user notes. If you are updating a note have you tried just moving to the next/previous note using the arrows on the note window. If you do that it updates the current note and moves to the next/previous note. Just wondered if that would make any difference to the crashes you are having.
Martin Z
Thanks Steve, Thanks for your tips! Clicking the arrows will not cause crash. This has been my workaround solution for a long time. But whenever I finish my work on user notes, or when I reorganized the parallel texts and did not want to take the trouble to resize the usernotes window, I would be prone to either close it or "update" it. Then a crash will be awaiting for me. My point is that it should not crash at closing or updating. If it is a bug, it needs to be fixed. (The problem has been there for such a long time that I do not even remember when it started...I recently reinstalled the Mac OS and all the apps. If it was due to any OS problem it should have been gone. But the crashing issue still persists. )
Silas Marrs
This is definitely still happening in version 12.2.2? If so, can you upload a new crash report? The program has changed so much since 12.1.5 that a new one may be helpful.
Martin Z
Hello Silas, Thanks for your attention! I had 12.2.1. Now I've just updated to 12.2.2. I did my first test: I opened the usernote, put my cursor in a note, typed "space" to bring up the edit window, then clicked the closing sign. As expected, it crashed. Here is the crash log. Silas Marrs
I'm not able to reproduce the crash. Does it make any difference what module the note is for, or is it just all modules? Do you get the same result if you make a new note file, then edit that? Are you willing to provide the note file so I can test it myself?
Martin Z
Hello Silas, Upon your reply, I created a new note. And it crashes at the first "update." Here I'm attaching the test note file to you. Test Notes.amynotes.zip

Silas Marrs
Even with the notes file you sent, I don't get a crash when I update. If you are willing, we can do a skype call so I can screen share and watch the crash on your machine. Hopefully that will help me figure out why it's happening on your machine and not mine. Martin Z
Hello Silas, This is the weirdest thing ever! After reading your reply, I launched my Skype and tried it for the last time to see if the crash will appear. And I couldn't reproduce it now!!! I've tried more than 10 times. It did not crash... I cannot explain this! I just uploaded here a couple of crash logs. I was not dreaming or falling into fantasy!!! The only thing I did after the last crash was to closed a few parallel tabs (mainly commentaries which I just opened last night). Given this situation, there is no need to Skype for now. But if the crash ever happens again, I'll come back to contact you. Thanks a lot for your patience and help!
Silas Marrs
No worries! This is still something I would like very much to fix. Do you have the workspace saved from before you closed the other stuff? We want it to not crash no matter what stuff you have open!
Martin Z
I don't have the workspace saved. The commentaries are the most popular ones, such as Henry Matthew, Calvin, and a couple of modern evangelical series. I think this is probably not the factor that causes the crash. I've been having the crash issue for a long long time. Next time, if it ever happens again, I will have more test with workspace and tabs and parallel texts, and then report it.
