bpkantor
I am wondering if there is any way (or plans to incorporate this as a future feature) to combine more than two texts as a parallel text. This is mainly for instances in which a multi-volume series is divided into modules according to book, so that you would need to combine many different texts to make a full OT, NT, or Bible. Timothy Jenney
Searching combined Parallel Texts simply is not possible, as we allow people to combine texts in different languages—or that have been tagged differently. No search of such texts would be truly global. Consider putting compatible texts into a My Groups folder instead, then searching them with Research.
Solly
... Consider putting compatible texts into a My Groups folder instead, then searching them with Research. Thanks for the reminder about Research with My Groups. I had done this in the past, but I have not done it recently. It is time to make some new groups and start taking advantage of this shortcut again! Shalom, Joseph
bpkantor
Yes, creating a group and using the research function does a good job of allowing searches in what otherwise wouldn't be searchable. It does not quite have all the capabilities of a search of a module, but it is a great feature. However, there still is no way to replicate having an entire biblical text like Göttingen (made up of many volumes) in parallel with the Hebrew text, for example. If you search for something in the Hebrew, you have to select the particular Göttingen module as a parallel for each result you look at. There is no way to scroll through and see all the results in parallel. For this, we would need to be able to combine multiple texts/modules as a parallel pane. Because some of these texts are constantly being updated, is it difficult to make an entire series of individual volumes into one text for those who have purchased the entire series? That would also increase search functionality.
Timothy Jenney
I certainly agree with this argument for Göttingen. Simply allowing all of them to appear in parallel in one combined text would be great. A searchable text of the entire extant corpus would be even better.
