I want to list all the words that appear in two passages.

For instance, i want to compare Mark 2.1-12 with Mark 1.21-45 and see what words they have in common.

is there a method to list all the words that appear in both, and the verses they occur in?

what if i want to compare two or more *sets* of passages with another passage or set of passages?

You would search one passage with * to find all words, then in another tab search the second passage for [HITS 1st tab] to find all the common words. Then in a third tab search BOTH passages for [HITS 2nd tab] to highlight in both passages. You can set the range of each tab using the RANGE command or the Range pop-up (click the + sign to the right of the entry box to see it).

that's great, and thank you.

now how would i exclude words, for instance και, from my final results? I tried [range mk 2.1-12] [HITS na28 greek nt 2] <not> και, but that eliminates every *verse* that has the word και in it— it didn't just turn off the red for και. And i tried * <NOT> και [range mk 1.21-28] and that isn't allowed.

thank you, helen. Those tips are very helpful. NEVER would have guessed using multiple tabs.

ok, i've got my list of words common to two passages, but now what i'd like to see is a listing with the verse numbers for each of the words. Is there a way to do that?

Analysis in Analytics will list and count each word. From there you can search each word separately (right-click) to get a list of the verses. The Concordance in Analytics might work for you if you restrict it to the search range.
