mopac01
I'm wanting a very basic set of atlas maps so I can orient myself to place while studying the various books of the Old and New Testaments. The main Accordance Atlas software looks great - much more than I need - except that it's only available on Mac OS X. And while I do have Accordance on my Mac, what I really want is something that will be useable on Accordance for iOS. And that main Accordance Atlas software says it's not compatible with iOS at this time. Can anyone suggest a very basic atlas option from Accordance that would also be useable on my iPad Pro in addition to the Mac?
ukfraser
Like you, i want a map to show me what is happening in the passage, I now use esv study bible, nearly 200 maps and they are very good on iPad and iPhone. It has virtually same maps as crossways bible atlas. There is an index to quickly find what you are after but the maps are in the text so the study bible scrolls with the passage. For me, this is my go to despite having the Zondervan Atlas which doesn’t have many maps, I don’t find them easy to use or find. and sacred bridge which Has a lot of information like an Encyclopedia but the maps are not easy to find but are very good so more for background reading. https://www.accordancebible.com/store/details/?pid=ESV+Study+Bible-addon Examples from list of maps and example map of the esv study bible from iPad. But let me know if there is something specific you want to see and I will try and find something .(Carta Bible Atlas is possibly best if you don’t mind monochrome ones, I like colour) https://www.accordancebible.com/store/details/?pid=C-Bible%20Atlas%205 Edited January 31, 2018 by ukfraser
Steve King
Another option is the Satellite Bible Atlas ( https://www.accordancebible.com/store/details/?pid=Satellite+Atlas) which provides a lot of information on the map about biblical events. Some examples attached (I've reduced the size so that it would allow me to upload them).
ukfraser
Thanks Steve. The reason I didn’t mention the satellite atlas is because it is included in the graphics learner package which may be good option as it has soooo many resources at such an attractive price (and is still on my ‘wish’ list despite being on offer last year). The ones I mentioned are not in ‘normal’ sets so there will be no compromise on getting sets in the future, plus I really like study bibles for the extra they give you in a succinct form and you are virtually getting an atlas for free. But the maps in satellite at las certainly look interesting. https://www.accordancebible.com/store/details/?pid=Coll12-GraphicsLearn Edited February 1, 2018 by ukfraser
Steve King
Yes there is certainly more content in the ESV study bible. The satellite bible atlas is purely an atlas with less written content. As such I think it makes it easier to find maps (although there is an index of maps in the ESV study bible it is still a little more awkward to find what you want). However the ESV maps are less cluttered and are much better for use in presentations. As usual with these things depends what you are after. I'm in the fortunate position of having both. You are right packages are good value so always worth checking before make a decision to buy individual titles.
mopac01
I think I've all but decided to go with the satellite bible atlas as I think it's pretty much what I'm looking for just to be oriented to place and time in the physical world. I really do appreciate the assistance.
ukfraser
Get the holman bible atlas, now available in accordance! I think its the ultimate in bible atlas for ios and been my go to in hard copy for about 10 years. Only disadvantage is that on ios, you cant open it in a second pane with the bible text (at the moment?). But on ios, its great and the only atlas you need. https://www.accordancebible.com/store/details/?pid=Holman+Atlas Edited September 11, 2018 by ukfraser
