Spotted a bug in the lectionary calculation for Transfiguration Sunday, Quinquagesima or Cheesefarers Sunday if your Orthodox.

Instead, it shows the texts for the sixth Sunday after Epiphany.

, Quinquagesima .

Many thanks, you have made my day, it’s like greeting an old friend. Takes me back to the days I used to rely on my Filofax. I miss these terms in my e-lectionary.

Ok. Now showing right details for the first Sunday in Lent.

Fraser: My wife picked this up for me in an old bookshop as a Christmas present. (Not sure if there is an etext available for it *grin*). Attached the reading for you for some further reminiscing material.

Also referred to it as Cheesefarers Sunday during the service and said one of the church members who is quite fond of a bit of blue vein cheese and I would therefore be found in the church kitchen following the service.

Michael
I love a good Stilton and am very fortunate that the creameries are very near as its a protected product. ;o)

During my training, we had to do a service for Bell ringers.

I got the oxford dictionary of the Christian church, and some entries make great reading (which is a text I would love to see in Accordance but is very expensive and not something I would duplicate now as well as the well documented problems dealing with oup).

But going back to your original post, I think there may be a problem with the calculation as we had second Sunday before lent and Sunday before lent and didn’t go directly from epiphany to lent but we have transfiguration later, interesting!

Anything goes in pancakes but Stilton melted on bacon is mega yummy. A proper daily feast.
