Parallel for Greek/Hebrew Lexicons

Here's something I do in Logos and want to mimic this in Accordance if possible.

I open a word in one lexicon (TDNT) and then open the Complete Word Study Greek Dictionary and Thayer and others. I can make it so that all of these will automatically move from word to word as I open them from my tagged CSB or ESV etc. Is that possible in Accordance and if so how do I do it?

Kevin,

Set your primary lexicon in the Accordance Preferences under "Amplify" (First screenshot). Then use the "Link" command to link any additional lexicons to your primary lexicon (in this case, TDNT).

Thanks for this. You aid use the "link" command. Sorry, but how? Searched in Help and it says its under Selection- Make Link but that's grayed out so I'm guess that's not how to do it.

Make sure your cursor is in the search entry box. That should do the trick. And you don't have to go to the menu bar. Just type in the first letter of the search command—"L" in this case, and any command that begins with that letter will appear at the top of the list.

Are these links persistent after a shut down? They don't seem to be, but I may be doing it wrong. I get an error when I shut down and restart restoring the workspace I created using this Link command.

They are persistent if you save the Workspace. Save the Workspace by clicking on the "Workspaces" icon on the toolbar and select "Add Workspace". It will then appear in the list. You can also set a workspace to open when you start Accordance by going to Preferences and selecting "General" and "Favorite Workspace" from the Startup options.

Yep. Saved the Workspace. Called in Greek Word Study using these instructions and still getting the same error when I open it up.

I'm linking three different tabs to the first tab. I have it as tabs instead arranged the way you did above. I add one Link. Then go to end of the line after the first link and add 2nd and then 3rd.

OK So now I get it. I was putting the Link command in the primary lexicon. You have to put them in the other lexicons and link them to the primary. It's backwards from what I was used to in Logos.

So I have TDNT as my main and Mounce, BDAG and CWS NT. In each of those other three I put Link to the TDNT and it now works great.

Another issue I had was to make sure I was using Greek Entry in the search field. I was using the Mounce Complete Expository Dictionary that had English, greek and Hebrew entry and it was not working because it was set to English.

Hope this helps new users and thanks Mark.

Kevin,

Don't miss the ability to select a word in an original language text, right click to Research then select Greek or Hebrew Lexicons. You can have more or less detail in the results and its a quick survey of all your lexical resources. Much like Logos, you can work with prioritizing resources in your library or let Accordance sort the matches by importance.

Thanks. That's easy. But that just searches for the English word in those books. Not exactly looking up the word behind the English word. Of course I can look up the Hebrew or Greek word that way. I think I'll stick with the other method above.

If you're in an English Tagged text, you can hold down the option key (alt on PC) when you click on an English word, and then go to Research—>Greek Lexicon or Research—>Hebrew Lexicon. That will search for the original language word in all your lexicons.
