Click or hover footnote references in Instant Details Popover?

Just started exploring Accordance a few weeks ago, have been using a couple other bible software tools for years.

The instant details panel is cool for quick information, but sometimes I want to quickly see the referenced scripture or other info as a pop up and not a separate panel.

I know you can click and hold on footnotes for example, but once you do it is just text, there is nothing clickable in the popover detail pane, would be cool to be able to

actually click on the references to see the scripture or even click on the strong'ss number to see that info, etc.

Is there a preference to enable the contents of the popover to be clickable or revealed by hovering your mouse over it? (show the actual scripture or reference content in the popover when you hover over the link)

Hey JKSwopes, and welcome to Accordance!

What you are asking for (bypass the normal Instant Details and instead show the scripture from it) isn't currently possible, though there are some alternatives.  The reason we don't currently implement it is due to ambiguity - did you want all of the scripture links?  Just the first one?  Make them clickable?  ID was designed, as you noticed, as a quick pass, where one would then choose to open the tool to view more information or make it clickable.  I'm certainly not saying we won't look into options moving forward, I'm just explaining the history behind the decision :)

For alternatives, you have some options. If you click on the footnote to open the tool, all of the links will be available, and a quick click can close this information.  Accordance, as you have undoubtably noticed, is very fast, so opening and closing information like this isn't much of a bother.  Often, I'll prefer to just shrink the size of this opened tool (dragging the zone dividers, or dragging its tab around to position it differently on the screen), or open it as a parallel pane, so the scripture links are always available to me:

Alternatively, if you hold the Control (command if on a Mac) key when clicking on the footnote, any scripture references present will also automatically be opened for easy, full reading.  This bypasses the step of then clicking on the scripture, if you know that's what you plan to do anyway.

Finally, the Info Pane hosts a wide variety of information for each verse you are viewing.  If you are looking at cross references, there are often many listed for each verse, and all of this directly supports instant details.

I hope this helps, and thank you for the feedback!

Thanks for the reply, yeah that's what I've been doing (clicking to open the list) but when click and hold a footnote to get the popup, sometimes I'd like to just have those links in the popover clickable or hoverable instead of just plain text, since I can't do any further searches or lookups on the information in the popup, and the act of clicking/holding a footnote for the popup just feels a bit more natural than clicking then moving to another panel to see the scripture.

I know it's probably more of a habit than anything and since this is a new program for me it may take some time, but would definitely be cool to see that as an option.

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions!
