Highlighting problem on iPad

Has something changed about the iPad app? Today while I am trying to look at footnotes by tapping (and moving a little bit) my finger to the run to get the to footnote pop up, the little letter to indicate the reference is becoming highlighted.

 

I don’t want all my footnotes highlighted, so how do I stop this? I’ve looked to see if there is a setting somewhere but I can’t see anything that might help.

I believe you tapped the ‘active highlighting’ button in the top left, next to the Goto Verse button. This is great for quick highlighting by dragging your finger, but obviously can be unwanted, so you can just turn it off again.
