Did something change in the forum setup ?

Hi ya,

 

  I used to be able to see the latest unread topics on the forums landing page : https://www.accordancebible.com/forums. Today though I see that this is no longer the case. I can see the latest unread topics by clicking on the View New Content link on the right.

 

  Anyone else notice this or know what changed ? I tried clearing cookies and re-logging in but no difference. I cannot spot a Setting or Profile property I need to tweak.

Were you logged in? Periodically I get logged out and then I don’t see the latest 5 but as soon as I log in they are there.

@Fabian, I can see the latest that way but it's not what I used to do. I agree I don't think it should have been a consequence of the group change but perhaps something else went sideways in that change. I don't know.

 

@Fraser, Yes I was logged in but I tried logging out and in again in case it helped. It's all happening on multiple devices.

Check your viewing preferences. They are on the left side of the forums page. I had a similar issue, but was able to resolve it by choosing "Posts new since last week."

Hi Dr. J,

 

I don't see anything called viewing preferences I'm afraid, if I am on the main forums page. If I click on the View New Content then I see a number of options for "By content type", "By time period" and so on. Are they what you are referring to ?

Yes, under "By Time" select "Past week."

Yep ok that works but it's not the way I used to do it. It was possible before yesterday to sit on https://www.accordancebible.com/forums/and there would be a latest posts section there which would refresh periodically as new content arrived. It doesn't appear to work that way anymore. It's not a huge deal but I'm curious because it was kind of handy.

Daniel, check the My Settings for your profile (Under your name near the top right).  In the last section, Recent Topics, is it still set up correctly?

Hey Joel,

 

I cannot see a Recent Topics section in My Settings at all. I check in all the sections of My Settings, Then I checked in My Profile. It doesn't appear anywhere that I can find.

Ah hah! It should be working now.  There was a hidden setting that didn't apply the extension to your new group.  Thanks for pointing it out!
