Additional form of Highlighting by color change of the letters (font)

It would be nice if in addition to background highlighting, one could highlight text by changing the color of the letters for one or more words.  Something like that has been done for the red-letter editions of the New Testament, as a built-in feature to make the sayings of the Lord Jesus come out in red.  But I would like to be able to make my own choice of words red or whatever color as an alternative to background highlighting.  This might take the form of an additional menu choice in "Define Highlight Styles," where one chooses Background Highlight or Highlight by Color Choice.
