Importing User Bibles—Psalms References

Joel Arnold

Recommended Posts

I have a user Bible I have been successfully using for a few years. Everything works great. Except...

In the Psalms. My text doesn't have Psalm headings (Psa. 4:0, etc). From what I can tell the references are getting out of sync there? Actually I'm not sure what is happening.

I just know that that the versification is way off. So if I have Psalm 150:6 in my Bible it is parallel to Psa 143:2 in the ESV. Oddly, if I search by reference in my user Bible it usually gets it right with occasional odd results—typing Psa 148 gives me 147:20, but at least it's close.

So... ideas?

Yes, use a bible with the same verse mapping as your User Bible for import reference.

I guess you have the TLAB. Try this as verse mapping by import not KJV which is set as standard.

But then check. 3John 14, Rev 12,18, John 5,4, Acts 19,41 etc. if it is still in parallel.

Otherwise you can add all x:0 verses and make it like Ps 3:0 --. It is necessary that something is written in the text. Or if you don't want see something try .

  • 1 year later...

It would be great if Accordance could provide some base user Bible texts for entire Bibles, with only the references provided in the proper format without any content.

...I make this request because I am also having problems importing a Bible text with the Psalms.

Yes and No. Yes, so we can add our own translation without delete other texts. No, without any text you have no clue. Especially in the Psalms. We had then to know which verse mapping is used, otherwise the mess is complete.

Are you still on Accordance 8? As you profile says.

I also had a problem with the Psalms versification, but I found that "Ang Biblia (Tagalong)" (see attached screenshot) worked perfectly.  You may want to try importing your user bible with this versification.

Here is a template with all verse references (Gen 1:1 - Rev 22:21) in Christian numbering (since most of my programs require Christian).  I can get Jewish numbering too if anyone needs as well.

But as it has been discussed above, some tweaking may be necessary to get your own user Bible to line up properly.  (See my post directly above this one where I mention "Ang Biblia (Tagalong)".

Just as a reminder, unless Accordance has changed this (and I sure hope they will soon), if you have a verse that contains no text whatsoever, then you must type something in it (I use a "-" character); otherwise, your versification will be thrown off by one verse for each and every occurrence of a blank verse that you have.

I have spent countless hours addressing this over the last year for all my imported Bibles.  (I have dozens).  But I also have some good tricks for making the process as quick as possible, if anyone is interested.

I mentioned this Bible above, TLAB. But it has in gen 24:29-30 both verses in one. So not really a good solution.

I don't think so (see attached).  Besides, I've been using the TLAB / Ang Biblia (Tagalong) and it works perfectly there at Gen 24:29 and Gen 24:30.  It is agreeable to the versification of numerous other versions--both native to Accordance, and my own.

Ah sorry I confused the TLAB and the THAI-ERV with the combined verses.

This is exactly the kind of resource that I was mentioning. Thanks for it. If there was a repo of these types of texts in multiple formats, say, matching the versification of the ESV, HWT, etc, that would be great.

One of the problems that I see, however, in the text file you provided is that in the Psalms it does not have the heading references (e.g., Psalm 1:0). I think this might be what is creating issues for some user Bibles when it comes to the Psalms.

All that being said, thank you, very much, for providing this file.

lol...no. just haven't updated my profile here. Just did.  ;-)

May request for this. https://www.accordancebible.com/forums/topic/25388-export-more-than-500-verses-if-only-the-verse-references-are-displayed/

Yes I know BW can do it.
