Michel Gilbert
Hi,I’m having difficulty rearranging panes. Here is an example:What I would like is three panes next to each other, none stacked. I’m having difficulty grabbing the bottom left pane and moving it to create three non-stacked panes. It always snaps back to where it was. What am I doing wrong? Also, a feature request would be a Toolbar item the opposite of “Add to Stack.” In this case, “Do not Stack.” Seriously though, an option to set the toolbar to three non-stacked panes, and perhaps another one for four non-stacked panes, for new BW users who can’t figure out how to get that third and fourth pane the way we want it.Thanks,Michel
Λύχνις Δαν
Regarding the bottom left pane. This is pane orientation. There is a button to move them from vertical to horizontal. Click the button just to the left of the Add Parallel pull down menu. That should toggle vert. to horiz and back. Thx D
R. Mansfield
Michel, for the first issue, although you should be able to drag it where you want, you can also click on the gear icon in that particular pane and choose “Move up."

R. Mansfield
Michel, I think Daniel and I might be reading your question differently. Set the orientation back to the way you had it in your initial graphic and try my suggestion to see if that achieves what you were looking for. Λύχνις Δαν
Yes Rick is right. I think his answer is what you want. That said the drag should work. I think the problem is that you may have been trying to drag it outside the tab and zone in which the tab is located and that's why it didn't do what you expected initially. Michel Gilbert
FWIW, I just clicked back into Acc and got this: I'll have to redo the workspace and try your suggestion Rick.
Michel Gilbert
I had to Force Quit the Aleph version.Move up did it, thanks. I will keep trying my hand at dragging panes. But, the HB and the apparatus are in one pane, correct? I’m trying to build four separate panes, like in BW. In mine, I want BHS/Apparatus, Lexicons, Research Grammars, and Syntax Database. I think the database has to be linked, so it will only pop up on its own, that’s ok. But is there a way to have three blank panes to start from scratch in each one? Mostly, can I open a Research Pane on its own, and pick whatever I want, sort of like BW, and have whatever I selected linked to a text pane?Sorry if I’m confusing you. R. Mansfield
Technically, those two panes are in one Zone. Check out “Understanding Zones and Tabs” in the Getting Started Guide.
Michel Gilbert
Thanks for being patient with new users crossing the divide. I'll read that and try again. It's a bit like learning a new language - BW panes = Acc Zones I'm guessing.
Λύχνις Δαν
I was going to say this earlier but Rick beat me to it - but that section of the dock is essential reading for understanding the UI. In your first picture you have one workspace with two zones. In the left zone you have two tabs, the front most with two panes. In the right you have one tab and one pane. I think you are using "pane" for what strictly Acc calls a "zone". So in your first picture you have the HB and apparatus in one tab, in separate panes. Michel Gilbert
Thanks. So, if I use Live Click, does it bring up a Research Zone?If so, how can I see that Zone, and say another Research Zone using Rt click > Research > Grammars, at the same time? Also, Rick, you pointed out I could drag to see the Lexicon and Word Usage Zones (?) at the same time. Whenever I tried that, it always ended up stacked. I just stacked two Research Zones, and I don’t see a “Move up or down” option. That would be great in Research Zones. I guess I'm asking that Zones be able to move up and down also.
Λύχνις Δαν
I just requested that Live Click be able to bring up a new "Live Click" zone. Right now it seems to bring up a tab in the same zone, which I then have to move to be able to see it side by side with my text. thx D
Michel Gilbert
Strangly, I was just able to drag successfully and see both Research Zones (?) at the same time. What I did that was new was drag towards the bottom first, just a wild guess based on the video.
R. Mansfield
So, if I use Live Click, does it bring up a Research Zone? Yes. If so, how can I see that Zone, and say another Research Zone using Rt click > Research > Grammars, at the same time? Turn off recycling by clicking the recycle icon on the Research zone. Also, Rick, you pointed out I could drag to see the Lexicon and Word Usage Zones (?) at the same time. Whenever I tried that, it always ended up stacked. I just stacked two Research Zones, and I don’t see a “Move up or down” option. That would be great in Research Zones. You should be able to grab a tab and move it to the right or left to create a separate zone.
Michel Gilbert
So, my perspective as a crossing over BW user is, the drop down menus take way too much space; we should be able to remove that menu for viewing, sort of like exiting the Library menu, perhaps a toggle button like it.
