haydnguy
Hello,I'm sure it's me, but I've had problems getting used to how to do just basic things. Maybe I don't know where to go to find these things. But, for example, today I had the ESV in one tab and created another tab with the same ESV in it. How do I put these tabs side-by-side so I can compare? The compare option is grade out? Do I have to use another pane for something like this? Is there some where to go so that I can easily find out how to do common things?
Steve King
Hi To compare you need to have the texts in parallel. So open the second one by selecting the 'Add Parallel' button and then selecting the text you want. When you do this you will find the compare selection is available. The help is very good and is a good place to search for these kind of things. Select 'help' menu then 'Accordance Help'. The help is also available online http://accordancefiles2.com/helpfiles/Win12/Default.htm (there is a Mac version as well - looks like you need the Windows one). There are a (growing) series of podcasts available. These are very useful. Some are quite old now from previous versions but often the principles are the same. Also many have been updated since. These are very good for beginning to get an overview on how to do various things https://www.accordancebible.com/Lighting-The-Lamp-Podcasts There are also live webinars available for various topics. Some of which have been recorded https://www.accordancebible.com/Webinars. I've found taking part in a webinar is helpful because you can get to ask questions. The forums are very friendly and helpful. We were all newbie's once and are happy to chip in and answer any question so please do not be concerned about asking anything about Accordance. haydnguy
Ok, thanks Steve. I have it set up so that I get immediate emails and also thanks for your help on my problem.
Timothy Jenney
Hi, Steve is correct. To compare two texts, they must be in Parallel Panes (Open one text, then use Add Parallel to add the other(s).). To view two texts at the same time, they must be in different tabs and different zones. Open both texts from the Library. If the second opens as a tab (hidden behind the current text), grab the tab and drag it to a different location on the Workspace. As you do, grey boxes will appear, indicating possible locations. Pick the one you want and drop the tab.
ukfraser
Hello, but I've had problems getting used to how to do just basic things. Maybe I don't know where to go to find these things. Is there some where to go so that I can easily find out how to do common things? There is on line help as stated above But if you are into manuals, this is a good starting point http://www.accordancefiles1.com/products/Accordance11Manual-print.pdf If you are into watching over coffee, this is a good starting point for beginner podcasts (/but you pick up ideas in the webinars linked above as well) https://www.accordancebible.com/Podcasts-Recommended/ Edited July 25, 2018 by ukfraser
haydnguy
Thank you ukfraser! I tend to like manuals. I will check out what you referenced. Thanks to all!
R. Mansfield
That PDF manual is not up to date. It has been replaced by the Getting Started Guide in your help menu. The Getting Started Guide opens in Accordance with text, images, and video. We are continuing to update it.
