Accordance Mobile Android v1.2 Open Betas

Accordance Mobile for Android v1.2.0b7 (10128) has been published on Google Play as an Open Beta test.

 

The main new feature is text selection and copy.

• Text selectors which appear after a long press for Instant Details and a Copy button appears. 
• Many, not all, text formatting will go with as a Unicode-based spanned string.
• Should be able to paste into other Android apps or even simply the search bar.
• Only regular text copy is supported, not images or tables.

 

Changes

• Added an option to Settings (on the ID tab) to "Include cantillation in export". Default is false.
• Added an option to Settings (on the ID tab) as well for "Include superscripts in export" to suppress footnotes. Default is false.
• Resurrected for testing purposee the 'Diagnostics' activity option, which available off the main menu in only the single pane view. This edition of Diagnostics houses an Android EditText control that users can use to test copy and paste. Not all Android editors and word processors respect the formatting that is being put into the Android spanned strings. This feature allows a quick comparison check to see if the lack of (italics, color, justification) is due to a programming issue, or if the target text editor is just ignoring the styling.

Accordance Mobile for Android v1.2.0b8 (10210) has been published on Google Play as an Open Beta test.

 

What's New

• Playback Support for Tools with audio files:
  • Playing long audio files (audio files that need to show UI controls) and short audio files (audio files that do not need UI controls).
  • Functionality for requesting/removing audio focus from the Android system to allow our app to play nice with other audio apps.
  • Functionality to control long audio playback from a status bar notification and connected external devices (e.g. Bluetooth headset).
  • Added a check to catch audio files with a remote URL source. We are not currently supporting these, so we are simply ignoring them for now to avoid a crash when trying to play them. Adding support for these soon.
  • Added support for drawing icons (used in Greek/Hebrew Audio modules to draw the speaker icon that initiates playback).
• Displaying unicode titles in the tool browser for non-unicode tools.
• Parsing in instant details in Ugaritic texts.
• Added support for PaleoHebrew.

 

Changes

• Updated the supported Accordance version level from 11.0 to 11.2 for module support. 
• Replaced MSS fonts files with more recent versions. The previous MSS fonts were missing the rhomb glyph needed for NA28 Guide.

Change

• Updated media metadata extraction in AudioService to improve UI responsiveness, and prevent potential app crash when attempting to stream from a broken URL.

 

Fixes

• Issue with streaming audio playback via URLs where the pause icon might show several seconds before playback actually begins.
• UI layout of media playback control bar for 7 inch tablets (close icon was overlaying the skip forward icon).
