Hello,

I was wondering what edition is used for the Module? I am working on a paper and need to know so I can compare to the Brill edition.

Thanks!

Important Notes for the Old Testament of the Peshitta

(PESHOT-T)

November, 2014

Introduction:

This module represents a morphologically tagged transcription of the seventh century Ambrosianus codex of the Peshitta (7a1 in the Leiden Peshitta). For the lacuna at Num 3:23-5:10 we incorporated 6b1 (London, British Museum). We used the photographic reproduction published by A. M. Ceriani, Translatio Syro Pescitto Veteris Testamenti ex codice Ambrosiano sec. fere VI. photolithographice edita. London: Apud Williams et Norgate, 1876-1883. The transcription was prepared by Jerome Lund (Ex-Deut) and Jason Driesbach (Gen). The analysis was done by Martin Abegg and Jerome Lund. Anthony Meyer did some proofing.

Our analysis (lexical and morphological) closely follows that of PESHNT-T as established by George A. Kiraz (PESHNT-T). We have, however, chosen to disambiguate the 'biliteral' verbs as either hollow or geminate.

Because of corpus restrictions imposed by the structure of Accordance, the manuscript is split into three modules:

PESHOT-T represents all books that are present in the "Hebrew Bible" as well as Letter of Jeremiah, Baruch, Judith, Susanna, Bel, 4Ezra, Wisdom, Sirach, and 1-4Maccabees. Any module that can be displayed in parallel to HMT-W4 can be used with this module.

We have followed modern scholarship by designating 2 Esdras 3-14 as 4 Ezra.

PESHOT1-T contains only the Apocalypse of Baruch, only extant in Syriac. The English translation of this text can be found in PSEUD-CW and PSEUD.

PESHOT2- contains only the Letter of Baruch 1. This title reflects the Syriac tradition. In essence this text represents the Apocalypse of Baruch 78-87 and thus can be displayed in parallel to PESHOT1, PSEUD-CW and PSEUD.

Updates and Corrections

Although we have now completed the canonical portion of the manuscript, this is still a work in progress. Corrections to the present data base are recognized. Please alert us to any errors that you might discover:
