How does upgrade pricing work when something was purchased at a discount?

So let's say, hypothetically, a product, which is normally $100, was purchased at a sale price for $80. Then I later purchase a collection that includes that same product... will I get $80 off that collection, or $100 off?

Within the 90 day grace period you will get $80 off the price. After that you will get a pro-rated amount, depending on how much the entire Collection is discounted. It may be as little as $10 off, as we simply do not charge you for that product.

Thanks Helen! I think that makes sense. Although wouldn't I technically be giving up my 20% discount during that 90 day grace period if I bought the collection, if I only got $80 off? Wouldn't it make more sense to take the full $100 off, so that I got to keep the original discount I received?

Well, no, we cannot and do not credit more than the amount you paid, since you'll be getting it even cheaper in the new package. The exception is the Basic Starter Collection: you get full credit for that however you purchased or received it.
