Highlighting words seems inconsistent, sometimes

So I noticed that if I have 3 panes/zones (not sure what to call them yet) open as follows, ESV, NA28, and the Greek Diagram, that highlighting a word has some inconsistent results. For example, if I highlight a greek word in NA28, it will also highlight the corresponding word in the diagram, and the ESV text. However, if I highlight an English word in the ESV, it will only highlight the corresponding greek word in the NA28, but not in the diagram. Or if I highlight a greek word in the diagram, it will only highlight the corresponding word in the NA28.

So I guess I'm not sure why there are different results based on which pane I am highlighting the word in. Perhaps it's not a technical issue, but it is kind of odd.

My guess (as I do not work for Accordance) would be because of the way the different words are matched between the texts and the matching is from the text being hovered over not 'through' another text. This linking is done programatically so there will be some incorrect highlighting on occasion (e.g. this can happen when the same word appears in the verse twice - for an example between the NA28 and the diagram see Eph 1:1 'εν'). So:

The ESV and NA28 words are matched because the ESV word is tagged using Strongs numbering. So if a word in the ESV is not tagged it will not highlight a word in the NA28.

The NA28 and the diagram do not rely on tagging a word to provide the highlight - they are both Greek.

I assume there is no Strongs number matching on the diagrams so there can be no link between the English text and the diagram.

The text that you are hovering over is the one that will define what it can highlight.

So hovering on the ESV will highlight a word in the NA28 as long as the ESV word is tagged. However there is no 'tagging link' between the ESV and the diagram so does not highlight that.

When you hover over the diagram then it can only link to the NA28 because it is comparing Greek words and it does not 'know' the associated strongs number for the word so cannot link to the ESV

However hovering over the NA28 does both because it can be 'linked' to both.

Whether there could be a programatic link between the English text and the diagram or whether the diagram could be linked via the NA28 when you are hovering over the word in the English text, only Accordance staff could answer.

This has been brought up before. I'm not sure it is a bug or if it is a missing feature. But, I have mentioned it in the past and I believe a few others have as well.
