Combine Texts and Resources

Hello,

I would like to run BHS and BHQ in parallel.  I read about the "Combine Resources" feature in the help menu, and watched "Lighting the Lamp" #92, but I still can't figure out how to do it.

I loaded BHS, and then opened BHQ-Deuteronomy in parallel.  Of course, it doesn't show anything in that window unless I'm in Deuteronomy. So I clicked the "Combine Resources" button to add BHQ-Judges (for a start). But no BHQ texts are listed as potential texts. How is that list of texts populated?  Am I doing something wrong?

Is it also possible to combine BHQ apparatus texts, so that as one goes through the OT the majority of books will show the BHQ apparatus?

Thank you!

Eric

Yes. Accordance now has a number of pre-combined Texts and Tools. BHQ is one of them. Its apparatus has also been combined.

Use Add Parallel>Texts>Hebrew Bibles>BHQ.

For a combined apparatus use Add Parallel>Apparatus>BHQ.

Enjoy!

Thank you, Tim.

However, when I use Add Parallel > Texts, it just shows me a list of my individual texts. I see the six fascicles of BHQ listed (among the rest), but not a category "Hebrew Bibles." In addition, if I click "Manage Combined Resources" it shows a list of precombined texts and tools, but nothing involving BHQ.  Am I in the wrong place?

Odd. However, I have a lot of custom folders, which I use to organize all my resources.

OK, I just searched my Library and found I have a combined BHQ and a combined BHQ Apparatus. Both combine all of the modules Accordance has released to date. (I'll attach some screenshots.) I also have the individual modules. If you don't have the combined resources, check with Accordance sales and see if you can get them.

Thank you, I'll check with customer support.

I don't know if this is related or not: when I click on "Manage Combined Resources" it gives me the option to move items up or down on the list. I moved BHS + NA28 up to the top of the list. But when I open a parallel text > Combined Resources only the original three combinations (LXX + GNT28, HMT + GNT28, and KJVS + KJVA) are listed. So not only does it not list BHS + NA28 at the top, but it doesn't list it at all.

The list of pre-combined texts in "Manage Combined Resources" includes Anchor Yale Dictionary and BHS, LXX and NA28 (which I own), and Hermeneia commentaries (which I do not own), but not BHQ (which I do own).  So I can't figure out how that list is populated.

The combined BHQ is either the original 5 or it is a test modules which has not been released.

I agree that the BHQ facsicles do not appear in the list of Hebrew texts under Attach an alternate text. This is a setting in the modules themselves which the text developers will need to update. Sorry for the oversight. I am sure Mark will fix it ASAP.

Is it possible to combine the LXXG?

Yes, it is perfectly possible, but you must have a search text that includes the books of the LXXG so I recommend either a complete LXX or the NRSVS, for example. Then add LXXG-Gen in parallel, and then add to it the other LXXG volumes that you have. Then you can save the set as a combined resource.

However, I am seeing a bug currently, that after saving it keeps only the first and last texts added. We'll look into it.
