I appears everyone is using the aforementioned plugin on Wordpress and other sites especially. However, I don't really want to point people to Logos, but to Accordance, the program I use. Thus, a plug in by Accordance that would pop up the Scripture reference and provide a link to Accordance inbound for users would be quite a help to both Accordance marketing as well as user pleasure. Logos has the mainstage on this service. Almost every website I see has use of it. Why not Accordance? The Logos RefTagger is a bit of javascript that queries their servers for the version and reference and returns the object wrapped in an html popup. You can see it here in all of its non-line-broken glory. It's no secret bit of obfuscated code, I just copied the link from their website (see attachment). The task of writing a script like this is not really the issue, rather do we have the right to do so? As I'm not on the licensing side of the business I can't answer 100%, but my guess would be that, no, we do not. We have the right to sell sub-licenses to users for use in-app, but not to serve online. If we were to acquire such licenses we would then have to develop client facing api to service this avenue. I'm not saying we'll never do it, in part because I'm not in a position to make any call on this otherwise, but there are a number of significant hoops to jump through before any implementation could take place. These tools can make a huge difference in use, when every-time such a reference pops up and is attributed to Accordance. That would have to be a help and in no wise any hurt to Accordance; in fact, probably something for all to look into concerning permissions. Thanks again for your reply. Great idea and it is a really a blessing to see. Better than even I hoped for in this post, though I think a javascript could still be developed for those to use without accordance. Unix Posted December 10, 2018 Share Posted December 10, 2018 (edited) Timothy, I've seen Christianforums.com have their system - though seeming to be proprietary code (I didn't actually look at the code but I'm trying to recall some discussion about it), does bring up the ASV. I'm certain that I'm suggesting for the New Testament the 1941 Confraternity Version - it is recently confirmed as being fully lapsed into the Public Doman (the NT). It is a VERY viable version, still in print, still bearing the traits of VERY strong and modern scholarship - see for example "New Covenant" in Hebrews (only viable version which has that, all others that can be considered as solidly trustworthy have "Covenant), I can't fathom the rigidity of other versions not using that since most versions are eclectic in a way anyway in the NT. It's two passages in Hebrews. The Confraternity Version OUGHT TO be developed for this. I love it, it's what I rely on the most right next to the NEB for which I have much more resources referencing it, for the NT! Also happen to use the OT:s but that's another story.I would of course ask need to in the same go, like all others, see the OT. For that a different version has to be used however. How about the RV? There can't be much objection to it, it is amicable to use. OK so it's not technically "recent" in that it pre-dates the Dead Sea Scroll finds, mustn't it be recognised as distinctively the greatest and most revolutionising progress in the OT during the 19th century?
